'Dancing With the Stars': Petra Nemcova happy to turn attention back to philanthropy

petra-nemcova-exit-interview.jpg
Seeing Petra Nemcova exit during Week 5 of "Dancing With the Stars" wasn't easy for anyone. The philanthropic model's positive attitude won her a lot of fans over the course of season 12 -- especially among her co-stars.

Fellow competitors Romeo, Hines Ward and Chelsea Kane were quick to lament Nemcova's exit backstage after the results show. In fact, the person who seems least saddened by the elimination is Petra herself.

"It's tears of sadness and joy all at the same time," Nemcova told press moments after the taping. "I never thought I'd dance halfway through the season."

A woman who devotes the majority of her professional life to her charity, Happy Hearts, she's excited to get back to helping aid children affected by natural disasters. "One thing is accomplished and now there is a new chapter," she says. "My life is about helping others, and I'm going back to what my life is about, building schools."

Nemcova had nothing but good things to say about her tenure at "DWTS," though she did get in one dig at partner Dmitry Chaplin. "I won't be in pain everyday," she says, laughing.

We're thrilled Petra gets to return to doing what she loves, but we'd be lying if we said it was her time to go. Do you think the right star was eliminated?

Should have been Kendra. She is a terrible dancer and she acts like a classless bimbo (which she is). I'll miss Petra.

Petra was so lovely-outside and more importantly inside. Hard cuz someone has to go home. Yes thought it may be Kendra...soon.

Nice person doesn't = nice dancer. Kendra should be next followed by Kirsty Alley. Actually as Kirsty should have gone this week, that was godaweful. But she gets votes off her personality not her dancing.

I thought for sure that it would be Kendra followed by Kirstie Alley. I am a big fan of Dmitry Chaplin and thought he did a wonderful job transforming awkward Petra to an elegant dancer. In addition, Petra/Dmitry made a beautiful looking couple..what an eye candy for the viewers. They honestly looked like they belonged together..but unfortunately, she's engaged to that actor who is 6 years younger than her. The guy looks like a kid brother or cousin of hers. What Petra needed was a real He Man like Dmitry who had so much going for him!!!! He's just a real nice man with a magnificent talent of a dancer/choreographer. I guess I am like the rest of the viewers who believes in romance!!!!

Definitely should have been Kirstie. Judges are being too soft on her, but she needs to go soon. Nice person ≠ good dancer.

thought petra was a class act. i, tpoo thinks Kirstie should of went home last night

Petra's fiance could never compete with Dmitry as far as physical looks, talents, and height! He is way young for Petra and too short...being next to her..he looks like...a midget. He's only 25 years old and Petra will be 32 in June. What a mismatched couple!

Hope Petra would have second thoughts about getting married to this actor and have Dmitry around perhaps to help with the Happy Hearts and introduce the world of dancing to disadvantaged children as well.

Petra had such beautiful lines, and was wonderful to watch. Had hoped Kendra would go..though she's improved.
