'American Idol's' Scotty McCreery: Did his 'I Cross My Heart' cross your heart?
For movie songs week, "American Idol" finalist Scotty McCreery chose the George Strait classic "I Cross My Heart" from the 1992 movie "Pure Country," you know, getting "back to his country roots." Heee. What did you think?
We thought it was a very Scotty performance. Perfect choice, very in line with his genre and what we imagine his fans love. It was maybe a tad boring and the big high note at the end wasn't spot-on, but it was solid.
The judges were gushing. Randy called him "hot," Steven Tyler said he's in love with Scotty's voice and J.Lo said that while it wasn't her favorite song choice of Scotty's, he performed it beautifully. We think he'll be safe for Top 7.
What did you think?

Perfect !! George would have been proud !! I have been wishing for so many years that someone would do some of George's songs and now my fav idol contestant did that..WOW
OUCH! That was painful. Off key, off step w/backup singers...just off!
horrible! how is he even still on this show? goofy..trust me George wished he would have done someone else!
I love that song -- and Scotty butchered it!
I love the original, this was alright...backup singers this year are just annoying, they overpower the contestants half the time.
He has a good voice but I don't think he should limit himself to country. If the judges kept on telling Pia that she couldn't live by ballads alone, why can't they do the same with Scotty? It's the same thing every week.
I don't mean it in a bad way, of course. He has a golden voice.
Worst most painful performance I have ever heard on Idol. I was a fan of Scotty until he totally ruined that song! I love George and as we can see no one can do it better than George. What a terrible performance. Was off, not synced and the yelling at the end was uncalled for.
I read all the comments above then listened again to the performance...He was great, I do agree that the back up singers were horrible...His performance was on every note...Loved it!
no. just no. this man needs to be voted off already. america doesnt need this man making an album
