'American Idol's' Pia Toscano reportedly signs record deal; album being rushed
Just two days after her shocking elimination from "American Idol," finalist Pia Toscano has reportedly signed a record, according to US Weekly.US reports that 22-year-old Pia will record her debut album with Interscope Records. "IdoL" mentor Jimmy Iovine is the chairman of Interscope, so he was apparently quick to scoop up this songbird.
In her exit interview with the press, Pia expressed that she wasn't upset about being eliminated, she was just excited about her future and to see what doors would open for her, so it looks like she really did have nothing to worry about. US Weekly's source says that Pia's album is going to be rushed into the studio for a quick release.
What do you think, "Idol" fans? Excited for Pia?

Her album being rushed is not a surprise. They want to capitalize on her popularity. It happens to every Idol winner and runner up. David Cook's first two singles did well and then he disappeared, same goes for David Archuleta and Kris Allen.
@Blake -- kind of ironic that you say David Cook has disappeared when he's heard every week when a contestant leaves. He also has a new single coming out this month and a new album on the way. Your overall "analysis" of Idol winners and runner-ups is rather incomplete.
I think Pia will be a successful. Album will sell out and if she has the right people working with her she could definitely be the next Jennifer Hudson or BETTER!! I'm TEAM PIA!!! =)
@Beth- what I mean is, no one is talking about him and his last single failed to chart very well and he doesn't do great with airplay. His song may be played on Idol every week, but no one is buying it or requesting it on the radio, are they?
she has signed with AI right? Can she sign another record?
Somebody is trying to make money from Pia's sudden popularity. I don't think I'll buy it..
She can hit high notes, other than that nothing special.
Not really...
Congratulations Pia, you deserve it. I think it is great that you will make an album, I will buy it. You should not have been eliminated. I thought you were the best female contestant. LOL
I will buy! she is drop dead gorgeous and all men are rooting for her (and dreaming of her too!)
I am so happy that you will make an album. I will buy it, also. I think you are the best female contestant they had. Keep up the good work and good luck to a happy future in music.
This year AI has lots of great new talent, so hopefully most of the finalists will get at least a one CD deal. I suspect most of the final 5-7 already have some contracts flying at them just waiting for signatures. It's still a hard uphill battle for ANY singers to be successful stars in this business. Listening to pia makes me think Celine Dion, or several other big names, and if she keeps on trying and doesn't get discouraged she's got a good chance of outlasting....well....JLo, among others...
