'American Idol' Top 8 results: Paul McDonald, Haley Reinhart, Stefano Langone - who went home?

idol-results-320.jpgThe "American Idol" Top 8 performed Songs of the Movies and overall, we found the week a little meh - so who went home?

The Bottom 3 came down to Haley Reinhart, Stefano Langone and Paul McDonald, with Paul tapped as the one who had to leave us this week.

But before we got to the elimination, we had some other highlights:

  • Jennifer Lopez came out looking like she's auditioning for Cleopatra in Space.
  • Lauren and Scotty performed Lady Antebellum's "American Honey" and it was nice. Lauren handled the girl part with more aplomb than Scotty did the boy part, but he got better as the song went on.
  • There was a behind-the-scenes video of the zombie Ford music video, which was actually kinda cool and not annoying, like most of these filler bits.
  • Haley and Casey dueted on "Moanin'" and it was pretty awesome. Their voices are very complementary and Haley's hair looked incredible.
  • Kelly Clarkson (squeeeee) and Jason Aldean were on hand to perform "Don't You Wanna Stay" and it was lovely. What a wonderful song.
  • A mop-top foursome from Liverpool the Soggy Bottom Boys The Folksmen Jacob, James, Paul and Stefano performed "The Sound of Silence"/"Mrs. Robinson" and it was ... yikes. I mean, seriously? Simon and Garfunkel is the call for Gospel, Rocker, Breathy and Broadway? Are you kidding me with this?
  • Paul sang us out on our second-favorite performance by him, "Maggie Mae." Fun way to end the night.

Did the right person go home? We think probably for the first time in the Top 13 the right person went home, actually. Though we did love Paul's "Folsom Prison Blues." See you later, weird folk rocker guy.

right person definitely went home
everybody knew it don't even think his cheering section booed lol

Paul shouldn't treat his songs as encore versions. He should have continued playing the guitar because that's one of his strong points as a musician, instead of the tambourine. I'm sad because I like him for his unique voice, though he may not be the strongest of the males. After tonight, I got tired of seeing his floral suit.

God...FINALLY.

**** NO! Stefano should've been Lan-GONE the week the judges used the save on Casey!! Why is that gay Jonas Brother wannabe ****** still on the show, especially after Pia's departure?!

Wer are in dismay, this is an insult to AMERICAN people. We pay hard earned money to watch good singers in American Idol. What do we get Stephano, who is not even close to Paul Mcdonald. I bet the next to be eliminated its James D. The network is manipulating the contest.

I would have preferred Stefano to go before Paul, but I don't think Paul would have lasted that much longer anyway. The bottom three was exactly right, though I do have to say that, while I had wanted Haley to go weeks ago, she's kind of growing on me now.

It's kinda expected but I still think his voice is very unique and interesting to listen too...

Jacob and Stefano should have left before Paul....and to respond to an earlier comment...there's quite a LOT of weird folk rocker guys out there making lot's of money. The ones who all sound alike don't...I'll miss you Paul and don't give up!!! My money is set aside for your first CD.

I know that their are some people who don't like him, but whether you liked Paul or not..he had a unique voice and he stood out and I've heard his band's CD and it's excellent..To me without him, the rest of them, except for Scotty are just predictable and Average, maybe even too average.. that's what Idol has had in previous seasons..not that their has always been a weird voice, but somebody who stood out..Like say "Adam Lambert", Or "Taylor Hicks". they stood out and whether you like these type of voices or not..You have to admit, without their Stand out quality, Idol is going to kind of be predictable from here on out.

I liked Paul. This competition wasn't right for him, though. Too cheesy. He's got actual potential in the business, whereas most of the other don't. Scotty might make it only because country music is very cheesy and their fans don't demand much from their artists. His predictable nature will win them over.

Paul is unique, which is what you need these days. No one who sings ballads like Pia or Stefano has any hope these days. Wrong decade, guys.
