'American Idol' Live: Are Casey Abrams and Haley Reinhart dating?

idol-top-6-recap.jpgWhile one "couple" -- country cuties Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina -- is being shoved down our throats by the "American Idol" producers, there is definitely something going on between two other contestants: Casey Abrams and Haley Reinhart.

Rumors have been circulating for awhile now about the pair being more than just friends and it seems like the growlin' twosome are doing nothing to stop them. Zap2it attended the Top 6 taping on Wednesday, Apr. 27, and witnessed a lot of flirting between the two.

Before the show started, Haley and Casey were on stage with the rest of the contestants waiting to do their intros, but only had eyes for each other. The two exchanged flirty glances and shy smiles. 'Twas adorable. When the contestants left the stage, Casey held out his hand to help Haley, who was wearing 4-inch heels, down the stairs. (Who says chivalry is dead?) Alas, she didn't see the kind gesture, but playfully slapped him a few seconds later.

Their chemistry was definitely on display during their duet of "I Feel The Earth Move." What you didn't see was Haley playfully swatting Casey after the performance while walking off the stage together. At the end of the show, Casey and Haley still only had eyes for each other, joking around on stage and making each other laugh. Their third wheel? Jacob Lusk. Those crazy kids...

Curiously enough, host Ryan Seacrest didn't ask Casey and Haley if they were dating, but chose to ask teenagers Scotty and Lauren before their duet if they were. Lauren has clearly enrolled in the Pia Toscano and Mark Ballas School of Public Romance because she was trying super-hard to be cutesy with Scotty, repeatedly putting her arm around him and grabbing his hand. If Scotty has also enrolled in the Toscano and Ballas school with her, he's failing all of his classes because he was just not sellin' it.

So in our totally non-expert opinion: Casey and Haley are at the very least crushing on each other. Lauren and Scotty... nothing going on there. At least on his side.

"Literally being shoved down our throats." Did you literally get your degree from Mars?

Haha, actually, Jason makes a good point. It's something of a pet peeve of mine (I know, sad) when people misuse the word "literally". Unless someone was trying to stuff Scotty and/or Lauren into your mouth and make you swallow them, then I don't think the use of the word "literally" is justified here.

Having said that, saying that they are "figuratively" being shoved down on throats doesn't have the same impact...

I LOVE Casey and Haley together!! It would be awesome if the two ended up winning in a tie-I know, never happen. This year James or Scotty will take the crown, but I have a feeling Casey and Haley will do alright too! People do love a romance, and this seems like a match made in music dollar signs heaven! More duets please! Quick put out a whole CD full and I'll buy it!

I think that Casey and Haley are musical magic and that they are also genuinely in love. Weeks ago, when Haley was sent to the bottom three, after standing next to Casey and one other person, I heard Caey say "I love you," as Haley walked away to the stool. In an interview since Casey's elimination, he has denied that they were ever "dating," but I think he is just trying to protect their privacy. I hope their obvious affection survives.

Tierney dear, just because you don't care for Scotty and Lauren's type of singing doesn't mean some of the rest of the country don't. Be a little fair and objective when writing, please. These two have talent too. I have enjoyed the variety of talent that have been on. I think they are all talented in their own right. I think what hurt Casey was all that growling and other noises in his songs. I love to hear him sing one on one with his bass cello. Good luck to the rest of the gang.
