Alec Baldwin: '30 Rock' ending in 2012

While speculation has abounded that actor Alec Baldwin will be leaving "30 Rock" when his contract is up in 2012, he dropped a bit of a bomb to New York Magazine at Tuesday night's (April 5) National Dance Institute's annual gala fundraiser.When asked if he is going to write a book (like co-star Tina Fey, whose "Bossypants" just hit shelves), Baldwin says, "I will tell you one thing and that is our show next year is our last year of the show. Our contracts are expired [in 2012], and Tina is gonna have a big career directing films and writing. She's going to be the next Elaine May. She'll be great."
Wow. There is no word yet from Fey's camp as to whether that is for sure or if Baldwin is simply speculating that Fey will leave with him. We can't really imagine the show continuing without Fey and Baldwin, but if Fey were to stay, they could perhaps find another executive foil for Liz Lemon.

If Baldwin leaves, they should end the show. He's just as much the lead as Tina Fey is, and the best thing about the show since the beginning has been their interaction. They should take this as an opportunity wrap the series up with a satisfying conclusion rather than drag it on long past its expiration date.
Funniest show on TV, hands-down. For once, Emmy voters got it right...again and again. My stomach hurts from laughter most weeks...it's just ingenius writing and acting.
I'm so upset! This show is great, however they are relying too much on guest stars and will run out of good ones eventually. I guess its good to end when theyre on top.
The end had to be coming; there are only so many Muppets episodes they can pay homage to.

will arnett could replace balwin. who is elaine may? one of the best shows on tv right now, but ratings are horrible.
