ABC announces two new talk shows: 'The Chew' and 'The Revolution'
Along with the news that they're canceling two of their soap operas, "All My Children" and "One Life to Live," ABC announced the two new talk shows replacing them: "The Chew" and "The Revolution.""The Chew" will premiere in September 2011 and will focus on "food from EVERY angle." The one-hour series from producer Gordon Elliot, will combine entertaining takeaway and memorable personalities. Hosts include restaurateur Mario Batali, entertaining expert Clinton Kelly, "Top Chef's" Carla Hall, restaurateur Michael Symon and nutrition expert Daphne Oz.
"The Revolution," from the producers of "The Biggest Loser" and "Masterchef," will premiere in January 2012 and is a daily show about health and lifestyle transformations. The show is hosted by a team of experts who, along with rotating guest contributors, will help viewers transform all areas of their lives. The experts include fashion expert and "Project Runway" guru Tim Gunn, celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak and "American Idol" alum Kimberley Locke. Each week, one woman's five-month weight loss journey will unfold in just five days.
"We are taking this bold step to expand our business because viewers are looking for different types of programming thees days. They are telling us there is room for informative, authentic and fun shows that are relatable, offer a wide variety of opinions and focus on 'real life' takeaways," Brian Frons, President, Daytime, Disney ABC/Television Group, says in a statement. "A perfect example of this is 'The View,' and that factored into our decision. 'The Chew' and 'The Revolution' are in the same vein and will be great additions to the lineup, with 'The View' serving as an ideal foundation from which to launch these programs. They will also provide enormous opportunity for the creation of ancillary businesses and growth."

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I hope these FAIL miserably. I wish ABC all the worst luck in the world. I am not watching another ABC show EVER!!!
Exactly what we need. More cooking shows for a society that doesn't cook.
I want ABC to fail. I want them to crash and burn. This is a major mistake. I will boycott ALL television shows on ABC as well as Disney. Canceling AMC and OLTL is just plain wrong and greedy. No more "Housewives", "Brothers & Sisters", "Modern Family", "ABC World News", etc.
I'm not a soap opera fan but I respect the genre and hate to see it killed in favor of utter garbage. So I also hope these two shows crash and burn. Announcing them before the news that they're killing two TV institutions has sunk in is rather tasteless, for fans and for the hundreds of people on the soap operas who will see their jobs destroyed in a few months.
hahahaha a cooking show and a weight loss show, which order will they air ;)
Neither of the 2 new shows sound appealing to me. I wasn't a soap fan of either one that was cancelled. I do watch Y&R.....and that's the only soap I follow. I can understand the disappointment of those who follow the 2 cancelled soaps.
What a waste of time. who needs more CHEAP talkshows?
well i am 41 years old and i have watched both soaps for years i kinda grew up with erica and now ABC wants to do something stupid like this well i will still watch abc at 3pm and that will be all ABC will suck and i hope nither show will get good reviews.. they have other channels that are for mess like this. WHY DOES ABC WANT TO MESS WITH SOAPS THAT HAS BEEN ON FOR 40+ YEARS COME ON NOW PEOPLE... very very upset
I can not believe that ABC would even think about the cancellations of All My Children and One Life To Live, and relace them with more talk shows. I have been watching the shows from the very first day they aired. Don't CANCEL them. We do not need anymore talk shows on TV.
