'X Factor' approaches Enrique Iglesias for hosting gig

Is Enrique Iglesias the new Ryan Seacrest?

Not yet, but he could be. Deadline reports that Simon Cowell and FOX have approached the pop star to star on their upcoming reality series "X Factor." While most would expect Iglesias to be approached to act as a judge on the show, he is actually being courted to host it.

Iglesias is reportedly more open to judging the singing competition series, but may stick with his music career full-time as his recent album "Euphoria" is selling well and his single "Tonight (I'm Lovin' You)" hit No. 1 on the US Pop Songs Chart.

Iglesias performed on the British "X Factor" last year to promote his album and has dipped his toe into the acting pond. He appeared in the movie "Once Upon a Time in Mexico," guest starred on "How I Met Your Mother," "Two and a Half Men" and has co-hosted "Live with Regis and Kelly."

Auditions for "X Factor" begin on Mar. 27, and the show has yet to name a host or the panel of judges. Cowell recently revealed that the judges line-up should be announced by the end of this week. People reportedly in the mix include Mariah Carey, Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger, Cheryl Cole, George Michael and Jessica Simpson.
