'Wonder Woman' adds 'Knight Rider' star as Steve Trevor

justin-bruening-wonder-woman.jpg"Wonder Woman" has found its Steve Trevor.

Justin Bruening, who starred in NBC's "Knight Rider" remake in 2008-09, has been cast as the male lead/love interest for Diana (Adrianne Palicki) in the NBC pilot, Deadline reports.

Trevor's origin story in Wonder Woman comics has changed over the years, but in his original incarnation, he was an Army officer whose plane crashed on Paradise Island, home of Diana and the Amazons. Diana helps him get healthy again and then returns with him to the United States; they later have a sort of Superman-Lois Lane relationship, as she's constantly rescuing him from one villain or another.

In the new pilot, written by David E. Kelley, Trevor will be a veteran who now works in the Justice Department.

Prior to "Knight Rider," Bruening did several seasons on "All My Children."

Why does just about every producer/studio making a super hero movie or TV show have to mess with the origin stories of the characters? Why can't they stick to how they were originally written in the comics?

Phew! For a second there I thought they'd cast the Hoff as Steve Trevor (which would have been an interesting twist, admittedly).

Hopefully he will good luck for this remake.

Epic Fail..Justin Bruening already laid to rest one of televisions most iconic series with Knight Rider. He and Kilmer fought valiantly for the title of 'master of the monotone', but at least Kilmer had an excuse, he was playing a computer. With all of the great leading men that David E Kelley has worked with, we get Justin Boring...

Really...? That is the best they could do....maybe he has some type of development deal with NBC so they had to cast him.

Hmm. Maybe acting opposite a person will help this guy out, but he had very little personality or charm in Knight Rider. That show was painful to watch.

I guess we'll all just have to wait and see...

They chose a lame actress for Wonder Woman so why should this news be surprising? It's sad that the recent animated Wonder Woman movie was truer to the Wonder Woman origin than this crapfest. This David E Kelley version with a changed origin story, multiple script rewrites, a horrible WW costume, and main actors from failed shows (Lone Star & Knight Rider)... TOTAL TRAINWRECK.
