'William & Kate: Inside the Royal Wedding': The cake, the ceremony, the security

kate-middleton-prince-william-getty.jpgBefore the Lifetime movie "William & Kate," TLC was here with "William & Kate: Inside the Royal Wedding." The special took a look inside the pending nuptials between Prince William and Kate Middleton, or what TLC calls "the social event of the new millennium."

The special wasn't so much about exact details of the big day. It was more speculationfrom people who were involved in the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, former St. Andrews classmates, London florists/dress designers/hairdressers or biographers of the Royal family.

There is a nice clip of William in an interview talking about how his relationship with Kate started. "We were friends for over a year first and it just sort of blossomed from then on. We just spent more time with each and had a good giggle, had lots of fun ... She's got a really nice sense of humor, which kind of helps me 'cause I've got a very dense sense of humor."

There are also a few details about the actual day. The ceremony is starting promptly at 11 a.m. London time, with the kiss on the Buckingham Palace balcony scheduled for 1 p.m. There are 2000 people invited to the ceremony at Westminster Abbey and another 600 invited to the reception at the palace.

The cake is a seven-tiered fruit cake, which they say is a "Royal favorite." It will be decorated with marzipan and Royal icing. They are also expecting around a million people to line the parade route from the abbey to the palace, so security measures will cost upwards of $20 million.

The most interesting part of the special was a former St. Andrews student who says that William first started looking at Kate in a new light after a charity fashion show at the school where she walked the runway in a see-through dress (pictured below, with a picture of Kate in the background). We can see why she would've caught his eye.

The big day is April 29 and the wedding will take place 6 a.m. ET. Will you be tuning in?

Just noticed that the show quoted the wrong wedding to the cake. the show said that the cake maker made a gothic cake in 1986 to the wedding of edward and sophie rhys jones, when they got married in 99.

The show also featured a cakemaker for the royals who was expecting to make the wedding cake for Wm. & Kate, demonstrating what type he was planning to do, but who wasn't chosen after all to make the cake. What a disappointment for the man! He was so thrilled! He seemed so humble & happy at the thought.

The show also showed a picture of Diana & Wm. at Andrew & Sarah's wedding but said it was the Queen's birthday or some other holiday. Wrong again!
