'The Celebrity Apprentice': NeNe Leakes takes old yeller out
Someone had to do it. Why not NeNe Leakes? Dionne Warwick has been slowing down the women's team for weeks now on "The Celebrity Apprentice" with her bad attitude and what Donald Trump referred to as having "a chip on her shoulder," so it was about time she skedaddle.
In this week's challenge, the teams had to create a presentation and commercial for ACN's new video phones. While the executives stressed that the commercials had to create an emotional connection for viewers, the men's team took their commercial in a new direction under the leadership of Lil John and scored its third win in a row.
Meanwhile, NeNe took the project manager position over for the challenge and she really did a great job. We're proud of her, because so many viewers instantly believe that she would be abrasive and hard to work with. On the contrary, thus far NeNe has shown herself to be both a team player and this week she led with a quiet confidence that kept the team moving.
When the women's team instantly latched on to the ACN executives' emphasis on an emotional connection, NeNe had the good sense to change their concept from Dionne in a studio speaking via video phone with an engineer to Marlee Matlin playing a mother who could use sign language with her daughter who is studying abroad. It was a winning idea for what was presented to them, but the men's offbeat commercial featuring Jose Canseco as a surprise gay fiancé resonated more with the audience.
Cracks in the women's team after its third straight loss began to show. Star Jones, NeNe and Marlee are emerging as the leaders of the group. La Toya Jackson and Hope Dworazyk seem to be perennial followers with very limited skill sets. And Dionne seems to have a stubborn streak feeling her age and long career should hold some respect among the group and allow her to do as she pleases -- even if that includes excusing herself from staying late with the team when she has decided her work is done. And that's what really sent her home.
It's one thing to call someone strong-minded and hard to work with. It's another thing to have a concrete example to present the Trumps in the boardroom such as Dionne's early departure from the task. To top that, she shot herself in the foot when Trump asked her whom he should fire and she volunteered herself. She really should have put up a fight.
Good riddance. We're surprised the car service didn't send a cargo van to fit Dionne's huge ego. And here's another pat on the back for NeNe who proved her critics wrong by keeping a level head when she was project manager.

You expressed my feelings quite well.
Further, from the first episode, Dionne was arrogant and contemptuous of everyone, yet she showed no talent, competence, or skills of her own (being a has-been vocalist from the 60s and a psychic-hotline pusher notwithstanding). In the following episodes, Dionne continued to be self-impressed, but her only contribution was her haughtiness and hostility.
I'm happy she's gone.
I was hoping the women's team would lose last night, not because they did poorly, but because I was SO LOOKING FORWARD TO DIONNE'S LAZY, EGOTISTICAL-A$$ BEING FIRED! I'm so happy it turned out this way, and that Donald et al finally saw the "real" Dionne. "Old Yeller" needed to be put down. Now she can get all the "rest" she wants! Good riddance to a Beotch with an extremely entitled, bad attitude!
I never watched The Real Housewives of Atlanta, but I thought the promos for the show made NeNe look really bad. So imagine my amazement when she turned out to be a really savvy, competent manager! Good for you, girl! You should have won because you served up what the execs asked for. Trouble is: the guys outgunned you in the presentation. . . which wasn't supposed to count, anyway.
The second best thing to come out of last night's episode: Buh-Bye, Dionne, you old grouch! Take your scowl and leave!
Who is "WE"???? I only see one byline on this article and only one person in the accompanying picture. I meen you might be big enough for 2 people - but you're not a "WE".
The DIVA Dionne was the best part of the show! She fought with almost every contestant. Thats what makes this show fun!
I STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT SKILLS NENE HAS. WHAT DID SHE DO BESIDES SAYING " ACTION " ON THE SET. NO COMPUTER SKILLS AND LEFT THE PRESENTATION FOR STAR.

As a project manager, you should always set the expectation that you want to see from everyone. If there is no expectation set, then the team will run over you. I know from experience and years of managing that if an employee does something outside of unwritten policy, then it is assumed that you agree with it.
Nene Leakes assumed that Dionne knew she should have stayed, but it was horrible on Nene’s management because she respected Dionne’s celebrity too much. This is understood. Dionne should apologize to Nene because she took advantage of the respect that Nene gave her. Dionne knew better as a much more mature woman and celebrity that Nene gave her more rope than the others. Nene is surrounded by legends. That has to be tough because she’s just a housewife star.
I was so happy to see Dionne leave and I know it's all for charity but Dionne made it so hard for anyone else to work with her. I have my Google TV box connected up to my DVR and I was tweeting and watching the show at the same time. I thought Mr. Trump finally saw through her foolishness and it made it all the better. Since I work and subscribe to DISH Network, I bought my Google TV box at a discounted price of $179 instead of the $299 it retails for so I saved $120. I can also search and schedule recordings on my DVR and because the keyboard can also function my TV, I never need to use a remote control again! I love it and I am always recommending that people check out DISH Network and experience a value unseen by any other TV provider!
