'The Borgias' sneak peek: Who will be left standing?

Showtime is gearing up for some power plays with its much-anticipated new series. "The Borgias" depicts a corrupt Pope and those who stand against him. 

In the following preview clip, we meet Pope Alexander VI's (Jeremy Irons) nemesis, Cardinal Della Rovere, played by Colm Feore ("The Chronicles of Riddick," "Chicago"). 

Clearly, he has it in for the Pope and won't stand for his blasphemous behavior much longer. The Cardinal will go on to plot the Pope's downfall and create a standoff between the French and Italian forces.

The two-hour premiere of "The Borgias" airs Sunday, April 3 at 9 p.m. ET on Showtime.
