Syfy gives 'Being Human' another season of life

being-human-syfy-320.jpgSyfy has picked up its freshman series "Being Human" for a second season, the cable channel announced Thursday (March 17).

The show has put up decent ratings over its first nine episodes, averaging 1.8 million viewers for first-run airings and drawing an audience that's 53 percent female -- making it the most heavily female-skewing scripted series in the channel's history.

"'Being Human' has proven to be a winner for Syfy on all fronts," says Mark Stern, head of original programming for Syfy. "Using the original format as inspiration, showrunners/writers Jeremy Carver and Anna Fricke -- along with a superlative team of writers, cast, and production -- have created an amazing, compelling series in its own right."

The show, based on a British series of the same name, stars Sam Witwer, Meaghan Rath and Sam Huntington as, respectively, a vampire, a ghost and a werewolf who share a Boston apartment and try to blend in with the mortals around them. Mark Pellegrino ("Lost," "Supernatural") also stars as Witwer's "mentor."

There's no word yet on when Season 2 will air; the first season is scheduled to conclude on April 11.

I've been enjoying the show so I'm surprised that it wasn't cancelled. Considering the morons they have working at tv companies. They give a show two airings and then cancel them, move them, put them on indeterminate hiatus. Sometimes we're lucky and a brighter station will pick the show up like Southland, but other times we are left to mourn and boo hoo forever like for Firefly... I still think someone needs to pay for that. Sharp pointy flaming medieval things falling out of the sky comes to mind. I started watching Being Human because first I'm a sucker for a Vampire story... seriously ;-) (except for that excrement Twilight) and second because I found out there was an ongoing show in Britain that I could download. Usually I only watch a show that has been on a full season and been renewed... been burned and heart broken too many times by the idiots that be.

I am glad this news comes out now. This has been a show I look forward to watching every week and it keeps getting better. I was starting to worry that it'd be another show that gets the axe prematurely. Great show, great cast!

BH is a good show and it's gotten better since the first episode. I'm glad it's being renewed.

WHY !?!??!?!?!?!?!?!??
it's not that good!!!! british version sucked ballz...american version even more so...
and,IT'S NOT A SCIFI ORIGINAL,IN THAT REGARTDS...HELL,THEY BCLAIM DR WHO AS AN ORIGINAL....NOPE!!! NEVER!!!!!
syfy needs to stick with just revamping the shows from the nbc network that never made it on the main broadcast network...

To anonymous....idiot

I love this show and glad it's getting a second season. Regarding anonymous -why did you even bother -you're rationale for BH not being renewed is just plain stupid. Really does anyone want Syfy to be a network of NBC rejects -sure fire way to sink the network.

BH is my new Buffy/Shield/Deadwood/Firefly. Compelling stories, great cast, humor and drama. I usually view it "On Demand" and will be more than glad to pick it up when it comes out on DVD. Great news!

Started out good and has gone downhill ever since. I just want to find out what happens to the murderous boyfriend so I can stop watching.

I love this show! These guys are so dysfunctional and very entertaining.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! nice to hear this good news, i'm really enjoying BH. the guy who plays Josh (werewolf) is esp awesome.
