Scotty McCreery performs 'Letters From Home' on 'American Idol'

"You're going to be receiving a lot of letters from home," Steven Tyler told 17-year-old Scotty McCreery after his performance during "American Idol's" Mar. 1 episode. Yes, it was a pretty cheesy statement, but still true. Scotty is definitely one of the fan favorites out of the Top 12 guys.

McCreery stuck to his roots and went full-out country, deciding to perform John Michael Montgomery's "Letters From Home."

Scotty's voice sounded great and the song was the perfect choice for his fanbase.Tyler praised the song choice and said it was beautiful, Jennifer Lopez told him he was born to do country music (we concur!) and Randy Jackson, the toughest judge out of the three to please, also dug it.

We're going to be bold here and say we're about 95% sure Scotty will be advancing to the Top 12. What do you think, Zappers? Were you as charmed by Scotty as we were?

It was a perfect song choice and he sang it beautifully. A night like Disco Night might keep him from winning but it won't matter. He will be on the radio soon.

I love him to death...

Love him and his personality. He has such a great personality for a guy who just turned 17.

If he were to be the first one voted off, I'm guessing he'd be more successful than the winner of this season.

Best on the show tonight! I just wish he would have said something like "God bless the troops" after the song, as many who watched may not know what the song was about, as it had to be cut so short.

ALL I GOTTA SAY IS....GO SCOTTY!!!

I voted for him while at WORK for 2 hours straight on 2 PHONES!!! :D

A star in the making. Could be another "Carrie Underwood" success story.

Not only was he great (and I am not necessarily a country music fan...) but he also lucked out because this group of guys were terrible..(in my opinion) and what were they thinking putting Brett through? He was terrible.. just terrible (You need a "real man type" to sing Light My Fire.. he reminds me of a little girly girl

He may just get me to start listening to country music, this kid is really really good!

He is good, but if anyone looked more like Alfred E Newman from Mad magazine, I haven't seen it.

I agree-Scotty's a winner no matter how he does in this competition. I had to cemment on the above comment about Brett being too girly! HAHAHA Everytime he has performed he looks like he's about to burst into tears if criticized, and I'm guessing if he gets dropped from the guy team, he could try again with the girls! I'm not saying it to be prejudiced, he just doesn't look like he will be able to hold up under a lot of pressure. He's got some talent, but IMHO not real star quality.
