Pia Toscano doesn't let the sun go down on her on 'American Idol'
"American Idol's" vocal coach Jimmy Iovine wanted Pia Toscano to knock Randy Jackson right out of his judges' chair during Wednesday, Mar. 30's Top 11 (Part 2!) show. And guess what? She did. Well, metaphorically, anyway.
Pia chose Elton John's classic "Don't Let The Sun Go Down on Me." As per usual, she nailed the song and hit every single note.
Last week, Jackson asked Pia to perform anything but a ballad, advice she decided not to follow. Luckily, Jackson wasn't too upset. "You sung a ballad every time... and guess what? You slayed them every time." He said he heard some Whitney Houston, some Mariah Carey in her performance and proclaimed that she was amazing. Jackson did say she should do something more up tempo next week to show that she has a range. Pia promised to show something different next week, provided viewers vote her through.
Steven Tyler said the judges were wrong for asking her not to do another ballad, telling her she nailed it and made him cry inside. Jennifer Lopez agreed, saying her notes took her to another worldly place. She also added, she felt her more than she has in any other performance before.
After this performance, we're pretty sure Pia is a lock for Season 10's Top 3. What do you think, Zappers?
