'Law & Order: LA': Someone's gonna die
"Law & Order: Los Angeles" will try to return with a bang in April by knocking off one of its characters. We'd call this a spoiler, but for the fact that NBC has been running promos saying as much for the past several days. "It only takes one," the NBC voice-over man intones in the spot (which you can see below). "A single shot to trigger a television event not seen in 20 years: 'Law & Order' loses one of its own."
As voice-over man is speaking, a single bullet is speeding toward an LAPD badge with blurry images of Skeet Ulrich's character, Detective Rex Winters, behind it. Since we already know Ulrich has left the show, it's not hard to put two and two together as to how Detective Winters will leave. Sorry, Rex.
Now, about the "television event not seen in 20 years": It's true that the "L&O" franchise show hasn't killed one of its primary detective characters since the end of the original show's first season in 1991, when George Dzundza's Max Greevey was shot in the line of duty. But that's hardly the last time a cast regular died.
Jill Hennessy's ADA Claire Kincaid was killed by a drunk driver in the Season 6 finale, and more recently, ADA Alexandra Borgia (Annie Parisse) was murdered while working on a case at the end of the 2005-06 season. But "a television event not seen in almost five years" doesn't have quite the same ring to it.
"Law & Order: LA" returns with a two-hour episode on Monday, April 11. Here's the aforementioned promo:

They killed the original L&O for this? NBC is a network of idiots.
**** Mix speaks the truth!!!
It's a horrible idea to cut Skeet. He was the only reason I watched this mediocre show, and I definitely won't continue to watch it now.
No offense, but I think Max was shot offscreen at the beginning of S2 Ep1
Actually, Jill Hennessy's character's demise was never made clear. There was a hint made that she was in a coma. We never found out if she died or not.
I loved this show but he was the only reason I watched....that sucks! Guess I won't be watching this one anymore. I love SVU way more anyway!
I am very sad to see Skeet go, as much as I love him on LO:LA, I can't bring myself to watch him die on the show, and I definitely won't watch the show once he is gone. I hope he finds a better project soon, he is a great underrated actor.
Never liked shows like this....have only watched LOLA to see Skeet. Guess I'll have a free hour in my tv viewing schedule now as I won't watch LOLA after Skeet's character dies/leaves.
Good thing is that this leaves Skeet free to work on the Jericho movie/tv movie that rumor has it is in production due to strong comic book sales and continued demand from Jericho fans. Go to www.savejerichoagain.com or the Jericho boards at www.universalhd.com for more info.
Good luck to Skeet. Wonder how the numbers will drop after Skeet's demise from LOLA---Jericho fans were watching for Skeet, so those millions will be gone. Shame, Skeet was great on the show and it was nice to see other Jericho actors showing up in guest roles. Alas, no more.
Skeet--you are better off without LOLA, a dying format and dying show.
I found irony, or a glimpse of the future when I watched Hot in Cleveland back in February. It was the two part episode with Susan Lucci. Searching for Robert Redford Betty White*s character wandered onto the set/scene where Skeet Urich was riddled with bullets dead on a cop tv show. :)
I was so excited to see Skeet Ulrich in a tv series. Don't think I will be watching this LO without him.
