Kyle Chandler considering role on FX's 'Powers' pilot
Kyle Chandler, who just wrapped his Emmy-nominated five-season run as Coach Eric Taylor on "Friday Night Lights" is considering a new television role.
Deadline reports that Chandler is being courted by the FX pilot "Powers," a supernatural procedural -- yes, another one of those -- based on a graphic novel series of the same name by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming.
"Powers" is up against another pilot, "Outlaw Country," for a spot on FX's early 2012 schedule. And while Chandler has not committed to the project, he will reportedly make a decision after seeing a revised script that incorporates some of his notes.
Chandler has been careful in plotting his post-"FNL" move. He's turned down numerous pilot offers in the last year, including the lead role on FOX's upcoming dinosaur drama "Terra Nova." His only upcoming theatrical endeavor is in J.J. Abrams' upcoming ode to '70s Steven Spielberg alien pics, "Super 8."
His "FNL" co-star Connie Britton recently signed to another FX pilot, "American Horror Story," which is being eyed for fall 2011.
