'Glee': Was Kathy Griffin totally wasted?
"Before we start I would like to say that I am not a witch," says Kathy Griffin in her debut "Glee" cameo.Griffin is quite possibly one of the funniest women on Earth. So, we were of course, a little bummed to see that she only made it to the screen for about 90 seconds total of "Original Song."
Sure, the show is about the "Glee"-tastic songs and Quinn/Finn/Rachel and Blurt, but when a resource like Kathy Griffin comes along, don't squander it. She should have at least been given the opportunity to sing.
Still, she made the most of her short time on screen playing a Sarah Palin-esque politician. Or, to be specific, Tammy Jean Albertson -- "Twitterer and former Tea Party candidate" -- who was brought in to judge regionals along with a nun who was quite possibly a stripper and Rod Remington, professional gadabout.
Griffin's character was clearly anti-gay -- which may have had something to do with the Warblers loss, despite an amazing duet from Kurt and Blaine.
"Boys shouldn't do a duet," she says. "The last thing we need to do is send a message to children that gay is okay."
She wasn't firmly in New Directions' corner, either. In fact, she seemed to take "Loser Like Me" a tad personally, saying, "When I lost my last election, I didn't go around singing about being a loser, I twittered about Obama being a terrorist."
Last week, in lines that could have been pulled from this week's script, the real Palin reacted to news of Griffin's casting by calling the comedian a "50-year-old adult bully."

I love Glee. I thought the two original songs were great, and I will continue to watch it no matter what.
However, I am getting tired of the agenda and political meta I think it is called messages in the show.
I get it the creator is gay, he wants to make the gay lifestyle more mainstream and acceptable. That is great. I don't think a silly little fun show about a highschool glee club is the best place to do that.
"Griffin is quite possibly one of the funniest women on Earth."
Are you high on crack? She is perhaps the LEAST funny person on the planet. You blew any credibility you had for the rest of the article with that one statement.
Was she wasted? No, she was doing a ham-handed unfunny unoriginal one-dimensional rip on a group of people that she doesn't agree with. Oh, wow such talent.
She was brought on the show to make fun of the Tea Party, that's what she did, so I don't see how she was wasted. She wasn't funny or particularly useful and they could have easily done without her but that is what they wnated and that is what they got.
Can this please be the end of the stunt casting? At least for a little while?
Kathy Griffin is a bully. That is her thing, she savagely attacks the people she doesn't like and hopes that there are enough people who agree with her to support her botox habit.
If that is what you want, then I guess she wasn't wasted.
Kathy Griffin sucked so bad. They should never let her on the show again.

She didn't look drunk to me. But then she's had so much work done her face probably can't move.
I cannot believe that a delightful show like Glee allowed itself to be besmirched by the appearance of a low-life, foul-mouthed skank like Kathy Griffin. What were they thinking? It was about the most unimaginative, uncreative, unfunny casting I could think of. Even if they just HAD to fabricate an opportunity to bash the Tea Parties they should have done much better. Completely ruined an otherwise really sweet episode. BTW, their bashing of the Catholic Church wasn't any better. Pitiful dialogue. Must have subcontracted the writing to Michael Moore. Actually, Michael Moore would have been a lot funnier in either role.
Anyone who thinks Kathy Griffin is funny has no taste or class.
I did not see anything particularly memorable about her performance. In fact, next time I watch it (I DVR the show) I'll just fast forward through the whole judge scene.
I wonder if in the interest of fairness (Media loves the fairness doctrine after all) if Glee will now have a Conservative on to play a stereotypical flamboyantly gay liberal?
