'Glee': Kurt gets the sex talk, did Blaine cross a line?

glee-criss-colfer-ew.jpgClose your eyes. Imagine the person you have a crush on. Now imagine that person visiting your parents to tell them that you need to be lectured on the ins and outs of sex. Are you dying inside yet?

On Tuesday's "Glee," entitled "Sexy," the McKinley High Students got a lesson in sex ed from Gwyneth Paltrow. (Every straight guy's dream?) But Blaine (Darren Criss) and Kurt (Chris Colfer) don't have a sex ed program at Dalton Academy, so Blaine takes Kurt's sex ed into his own hands.

And not in a sexy way, much to our chagrin.

When Kurt admits that he can't be sexy because he knows nothing about sex, Blaine boggles.

"I've tried watching those movies," Kurt admits, "but I just get horribly depressed because I think about how they were all kids once and they all have mothers and what would their mothers think and why would you get that tattoo there."

He's adorable.

Blaine goes to talk to Burt (Mike O'Malley), Kurt's father, at his place of employment. He explains to Burt that Kurt doesn't know the first thing about the birds and the bees, and as Kurt's dad, Burt has a responsibility to give him that ever-awkward sex talk. "I apologize if I'm overstepping," Blaine says.

"You are," Burt assures him.

Seriously. We're grateful that Blaine made the move, only because when Burt and Kurt did sit down, it gave us one of those classic Hummell family moments that we've come to love so much.

The parent/child sex talk is a staple of teen TV. Who can forget Dawson's dad making him practice kissing on a model of Joey Potter's head? And Sandy Cohen telling Seth,  "You were lucky to be able to hang in there after all that foreplay!" This may, however, be the first time that the sex talk has been so carefully tailored to the gay teenager's experience.

"With two guys, you've got two people that think sex is just sex," Burt says. ""It means something. It's doing something to your heart to your self esteem even though it feels like you're just having fun... Use it as away to connect to another person. Don't throw yourself around like you don't matter. Because you matter, Kurt."

Best dad ever? Yes.

Is Blaine a little weird and meddlesome? Yes.

Blaine is flawless!

Perfect dad. Thinking of my own dad, I just wanna cry.

I think Blaine really cares about Kurt, he's just a little awkward about it.

That was one perfect moment. What a statement to make to teenager. YOU matter!
I am not sure what made the best argument tonight but Glee had some great food for thought on teen sex.
I loved Gwenyths toss out after her sex song.... Oh yeah don't forget that when you have sex with someone, you are having sex with everyone that person has had sex with. And EVERYONE has a random!
I definately give tonight a thumbs up.

Wow, at first I thought Blaine talking to Burt was perfectly fine. But now that I'm actually thinking about it, it was actually really weird, even though his heart was in the right place. Well at least he acknowledged the fact that he was overstepping and it enabled the whole awesome sex talk scene with Kurt and his dad to happen, so whatever.

Blaine is not weird. Nope, he just really cares about Kurt. End of story.

I do think Blaine maybe overstepped his boundaries a tad, but I also think you're making a way bigger deal out of it than it is. Blaine is more than Kurt's crush; he's a close friend. Would you want your best friend to tell your parents to give you the talk? No. But it wouldn't be creepy. It needed to be done for Kurt's health. Friends care about each other and do uncomfortable things like that for each other.

The Kurt/Burt talk was great but Blaine was WAY out of line. However it did make me believe that Kurt/Blaine are going to stay platonic. Blaine has no feelings for Kurt. There wasn't even a little bit of sexual tension. Instead Blaine told Kurt he wasn't sexy and looked like he had gas. Romantic.

"...what would their mothers think and why would you get that tattoo there."
.
This is very strange because if I am not mistaken, this is similar to what Chris Colfer said to Kevin McHale when the latter was getting a tattoo ( see Glee cast at the Bonnie Hunt show in 2009).

Blaine weird ? Yes.

Crossed the line ? If it is for the best interest of Kurt ? No.

I almost forgot that Blaine already socialized with the Hummels in the Superbowl episode.
