'Fringe': After 'Bloodlines,' it is happening...

fringe-bolivia-bloodlines.jpgIt's time to party, "Fringe" fans -- not only is it Friday, but our favorite show was picked up this week for a full 22-episode fourth season.

Tonight's shocking (and crazy good) episode, "Bloodline," might harsh your buzz a little - but in a good way. We find Fauxlivia distraught by the high likelihood of a pregnancy complication called VPE -- which took both her sister and her baby during labor.

When she's kidnapped and her pregnancy is accelerated, she fears that both she and her unborn child are in mortal danger.

Of course, this is of even greater concern to Walternate, as he's thrilled to learn that Fauxlivia is carrying his grandchild. We loved the chance to see Lincoln and Charlie in action again, as well as alterna-Astrid -- Jasika Nicole remains one of the most underrated players on television.

The team's concern for Fauxlivia is great, but it's her own actions that are ultimately kick-ass. We spent a large part of this season hating Fauxlivia, but we've come a long way. Her pregnancy and her family history have gone a long way toward making her a sympathetic character. She's even sort of likable at this point.

Not to mention, we positively adore Seth Gabel as Lincoln in a particularly heart-wrenching scene, so if more "over there" time brings us more Lincoln, we're all for it. Some secrets surface for Lincoln and Charlie in this episode, and we're pretty sure they're not going to settle for only knowing part of the story.

Another ace part of this episode? Andre Royo returning as Henry Higgins, cabbie who helped our Olivia when she first arrived "over there." We'd been hoping to see it again.

We can't wait to chat with you guys about this episode -- particularly those final moments. What'd you think? Weigh in below in the comments section.

ive tried to look up vpe - what is it?????

A brilliantly written, emotionally driven episode. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Just awesome. Anna Torv's emmy/golden globe- where are you?

Just amazed that Fringe continues
to have such high quality episodes. And the acting is superb!!!

Best show on TV period!

@Veronica:

VPE means "viral propagated eclampsia". It's a pregnancy complication that only exists in the alternate universe.

Awesome episode! And yeah, watching Charlie and Lincoln is cool.

The episode was stunning -- I just love the way FRINGE doesn't talk down to its audience (the way VPE was presented is a great example of that; no explanation, just a mention that they assume we'll figure out for ourselves).

And I ADORE Altstrid. I'm always excited to see her when we're in the alternate universe.

This show is so well-plotted, and it's a huge bonus that they know they're getting another season, so they'll be able to write the season finale accordingly.

I'm running out of synonyms for "brilliant" and "genius." This show is simply fabulous, and Friday's episode was no exception. I LOVE the alternate universe and its characters, and wish we could have two separate shows--one for each universe. Need more Lincoln, and yes, MORE CHARLIE FRANCIS! I like the other Olivia; our Olivia is better, of course, and a better person, but just because she is a stronger person. Fauxlivia is strong, but a little weaker in character and integrity. Everyone makes mistakes, even big ones, but I don't think our Olivia would have behaved in the same manner while "undercover" had the roles been reversed. I keep forgetting Walternate is played by the same actor who plays Walter, and half the time do the same with Olivia. John Noble and Anna Torv truly are marvelous. But so are the others; particularly Joshua Jackson in a subtler way (but he does blow me away, he's so good). When the others have more screen time now and then, we can appreciate their particular acting chops all the more. Thank you, God, and FOX, for a fourth season! I'm scared of the Season 3 finale, and anticipate a summer of ranting and raving, and possibly crying, but then I'm really loving this rollercoaster ride. And you know the show and the actors are phenomenal when you don't mind episodes in which any or most of them are missing. Because you don't notice. Because you're so absorbed in the story and in what's going on in the episode. And the next time it happens, the focus is on the ones who were missing.

Everything is better when you add "Bubbles".

I've always loved the Over There episodes and this was no exception; it blew me away. Seth Gabel in particular - WHEW. Such a nuanced performance in the scene in Walternate's office, and then that tremendous outpouring of emotion with Fauxlivia. Phenomenal.

Is it too much to ask for Lincoln and Charlie on my TV screen every week? I love them so.
