FOX pushes 'Terra Nova' premiere to fall

FOX is delaying the premiere of its sci-fi/adventure series "Terra Nova." It had been scheduled to debut as a two-night special event in May, but the network is pushing it to the fall.The show is building a virtual world from scratch, and it simply won't be broadcast-ready by the spring.
"'Terra Nova' is one of the most ambitious television series ever produced," FOX Entertainment president Kevin Reilly says. "The cutting-edge visual effects used to create the world of 'Terra Nova,' which is of massive scope and scale, require more time to be realized. This aspect of the series is essential, so we are pushing back the special early preview date to give the visual effects team the time needed."
The show's two-hour pilot had been scheduled to air over two nights on May 23 and 24 before settling into a regular home in the fall -- similar to how FOX debuted "Glee" in May 2009. Instead, it will premiere sometime next fall; the season finales of "The Chicago Code" and "Glee" will air on May 23 and 24.
"Terra Nova" begins in the year 2149 on an Earth that's dying. The Shannon family (Jason O'Mara, Shelley Conn, Landon Liboiron, Naomi Scott and Alana Mansour) is among a group of colonists who travel back in time 85 million years and launch an effort to rebuild civilization. Stephen Lang ("Avatar") also stars as the leader of the Terra Nova colony.

So, if the effects are this time-consuming, what reason is there to think that it can be delivered on a weekly series schedule? This show really seems to have been such a major struggle just to deliver and get on the air, it's really starting to seem like a lost cause.
This is the same reason they're having trouble getting the "STAR WARS" TV show on.
So it will be a year late now.
What a mess.
This show is like Broadway's Spiderman.
How in the world are they going to produce this show on a weekly basis if they can't get the premier off the ground ?
But I'd rather have the producers take their time and produce a quality show worth watching instead of Syfy-like crap. Once the world is created, the visual effects team should be able to do the effects for a weekly show with no problem.
