'Eastbound & Down' Season 3: What to expect from the final season

The "Eastbound & Down" writers are hard at work preparing to bring the raunchy HBO comedy back for it's third and possibly final season.

Executive Producer/writer/star Danny McBride couldn't divulge many details when Zap2it caught up with him at Paleyfest 2011, but he did give us a vague idea of when the show will be back, and what we can expect to see.

"We're writing now. We'll shoot this summer," he admits.

As for when the episodes will air: "I don't know, maybe even later at the end of this year, beginning of next year," McBride says.  

That's a long time for fans to wait, as Season 2 came to a close in October 2010. We think it will be worth it though, as the final season will undoubtedly revolve around April Buchanon (Katy Mixon) and Kenny Powers (McBride) facing parenthood.

The April and Kenny dynamic has been a roller coaster since day one and we're looking forward to seeing their relationship continue to progress.

"We have the best time writing for those scenes," McBride says of Kenny and April's interactions. "Katy Mixon is great to work with and she's a lot of fun to act with... I think it will be safe to say that that stuff will be back."

Mixon herself weighs in on what she'd like to see in the next season, saying "I think I would like to see some good old comedy in the sense of Kenny handling a baby."

Comedy that writes itself, indeed.

"April can handle anything, my goodness," she says of impending motherhood. "I think it might be a surprise that Kenny is in this situation but I randomly think, I hope at least, he's gonna be able to handle it."

McBride, however remains tight lipped on how Kenny will deal with fatherhood.
 
"It's too early to tell, I don't want to ruin anything for you," he teases.

With Kenny returning to Shelby, North Carolina -- We may or may not have seen the last of Ana de la Reguera as Vida, the Mexican temptress with a backside that spawned it's own storyline.

de la Reguera tells us that she's not sure about her status in the upcoming season, but she would love to see Vida return as a mega-star on tour.

"I would like to go back as a huge star, because I wanted to do my record," she explains. "Maybe I'll look for him and say to him, 'This is thanks to you cause you made me do this, and you gave me the strength to do it' and kind of shake his world a little bit."

Adding "Now that I'm famous and I have money maybe he's interested in that -- In being that power couple or something. That would be cool."

McBride doesn't confirm a return for de la Reguera or Sebastian Cisneros (Michael Pena), but he did suggest that Stevie Janowski (Steve Little)'s new wife will be back for more.
