'Desperate Housewives': Meet Bree's new sweet, Jonathan Cake

Marcia Cross may be more motivated to put her name on the dotted line and renew her contract on "Desperate Housewives" now that she has seen what the producers have in store for Bree.
According to Deadline, Jonathan Cake is joining the show for four episodes later this season and then he'll be back as a regular next season.
Cake, 43, will play a police detective who arrives on Wisteria Lane to investigate a case. He sounds kind of perfect for Bree as he's described as being college-educated with strong family values.
Viewers may remember the ruggedly handsome Brit as Roy in the short-lived series, "Six Degrees," or as Tyrannus in the miniseries "Empire" in 2005 - both on ABC. Last month, he appeared in an episode of the network's new medical series, "Off the Map."
"Desperate Housewives" hasn't been officially renewed for Season 8 as the housewives are still in contract negotiations.
