Chuck Lorre: Musings on drugs and 'Sprint from Grace' in latest vanity card

chuck-lorre-gi-320.jpg"Two and a Half Men" co-creator Chuck Lorre's self-imposed break from writing vanity cards didn't last very long.

After saying last week that the close scrutiny of his vanity-card musings had "gotten out of hand" in the wake of l'affaire Charlie Sheen, Lorre was back at it Monday (Feb. 28) with a card at the end of one of his other shows, "Mike & Molly." And while it doesn't mention Sheen's name or any particulars of the ongoing "Men" drama, it at the very least seems inspired by the events of the past week or so.

The card reads:

I understand that I'm under a lot of pressure to respond to certain statements made about me recently. The following are my uncensored thoughts. I hope this will put an end to any further speculation.

I believe that consciousness creates the illusion of individuation, the false feeling of being separate. In other words, I am aware, ergo I am alone. I further believe that this existential misunderstanding is the prime motivating force for the neurotic compulsion to blot out consciousness. This explains the paradox of our culture, which celebrates the ego while simultaneously promoting its evisceration with drugs and alcohol. It also clarifies our deep-seated fear of monolithic, one-minded systems like communism, religious fundamentalism, zombies and invaders from Mars. Each one is a dark echo of an oceanic state of unifying transcendence from which consciousness must, by nature, flee. The Fall from Grace is, in fact, a Sprint from Grace. Or perhaps more accurately, "Screw Grace, I am so outta here!"

Questions?

Actually, yes: This probably won't help the "Two and a Half Men" situation much, will it? At least the crew is getting paid for the four shows it's missing.

I got the first part of it wrong.
"I believe that consciousness creates the illusion of individuation, the false feeling of being separate. In other words, I am aware, ergo I am alone. "
Consciousness can create a greater understanding of self and it's relationship to the world that can allow us to open a dialogue with others through a realization of compassion for ourselves and hence an empathy for the human condition rather than an arrogance that we are better than another because we are more aware. In fact, the individuation process forces us to confront a greater responsibility for our actions and minds and relationship to the universe of which we are all a part of and through which we can live happier lives individually and together. It is the cult of the individual and the hijacking of it's place in the greater context of the universe that is the monster and illusion that has been bought and sold and keep us addicted in that parodox, fear and arrogance that permeates our society through the culture of "me" that TV and advertising is a wonderfully perverse mirror of in it's content-ratings and advertisments and people who think that because they are "someone" they are special or alone. Chuck and Charlie-when is the last time you cared for something other than yourselves because you realized what Arthur Miller said so long ago "Attention must be paid." In this act of kindness tempered by our greater understanding of ourselves we can heal our hearts and transcend the ego of pain and anguish with the joy of experiencing the grandness of this great illusion that we are lucky to experience and have the responsibility to take care of as humble gardeners and not lords of the universe. Try a little modesty...try a little tenderness...try seeing ourselves in the big picture of heading towards the light rather than the pretense of being so ******* special and misunderstood. You are in an industry that plays to peoples better side to sell them crap. The monster that Chuck neglects is the monster of Unconsciousness that Charlie is the supreme and tragic representation of who in is poor way is trying to break free from but unable because it's too hard to just love .

I meant to say"Chuck got the first part wrong." I'm happy I made the mistake because none of us are above making the same mistake. But I correct myself-"Chuck got the first part wrong" in his vanity card. How deliciously ironic !

Chuck Lorre sounds a lot like Charlie Sheen, but without the drugs and alcohol. What a couple of crazies, they deserve each other!! Jon Crier and the rest of the cast should be glad it's over.

Strangely enough they almost do look like each other.

I'm taking bet on how many times Sheen has to read this before he understands it, with an over/under of 4 before his brain implodes.

It's too bad Chuck Lorre can't control his rants. If he hadn't publicly mocked Mr. Sheen in last weeks vanity card the show would now be back in production.

OMG, what a pompous fool !

Lorre swears off "VANITY TAGS" just a week ago and here he is 1 week later trying feel intellectually superior with rant disgused in existentialism.

He couldn't even go 1 week with out a Vanity Tag. lol

Charlie Sheen may have a DISEASE but what's this guy's excuse for being an idiot.

And why is NO ONE ASKING the same question Charlie Sheen did ?

If it was Lorre's intention to start shooting on Monday Feb 28th why weren't there ANY SCRIPTS WRITTEN YET ?

Isn't that kinda suspect on the studio's behalf?

Could they have been planning to trash the rest of the season all along and use Charlie Sheen as an excuse?

He did do the rehab for 3 weeks and was ready to go back to work and then the crap hit the fan.

That's pretty deep for someone who produced the dreck that is Two and a Half Men.

It is very strange that Lorre didn't have any scripts written for 3 1/2 men when he knew that they were going back into production on Monday.

If the Studio & Lorre were only going to shut down for 3 weeks as promised then they should of had 4 more weeks worth of scrips ready for the cast & crew by Monday.

Something smells fishy there.

Has anyone confirmed the "there are no scripts ready" thing? I know C. Sheen said it, but he also says he's a warlock with a superior brain and Adonis DNA. Can we maybe *not* assume that anything he says that isn't obviously insane is completely true?
