Charlie Sheen fired: So what happens to 'Two and a Half Men' now?

charlie-sheen-fired-cbs-320.jpgCharlie Sheen has been acting like a guy who wants to get fired from his job for a couple weeks now. He got his wish Monday, when Warner Bros. TV fired him from "Two and a Half Men."

Sheen called his sacking "very good news," because now he can go about suing the studio for breach of contract -- the deal he signed last year was good through the 2011-12 season, but with his firing he's out something like $50 million in salary for the episodes left on the table this season and a full season next year.

Warner Bros. hasn't decided the future of "Two and a Half Men" yet -- the studio's statement Monday said only that Sheen is no longer in the picture. But it could go one of several ways.

Cancel the show. That seems unlikely, considering that for all of Sheen's issues (which Warner Bros. and CBS had mostly shrugged at until recently), "Men" is still the most-watched comedy on TV and the No. 2 sitcom in the key adults 18-49 demographic (behind ABC's "Modern Family"), and it's an asset CBS probably wants to protect. And even if you were to assume that every single one of Sheen's 2 million-plus Twitter followers is a die-hard "Men" fan, and that every single one of them would desert the show without him -- neither of which is likely -- it would still draw a pretty healthy audience.

Continue with another actor. There's been a lot of speculation (some of it here on Zap2it) about possibly recasting Sheen's role, and it seems like a pretty likely scenario. John Stamos? Someone else? We'll probably hear a lot about this option in the weeks to come.

Continue, but without any new faces. Based on the comments we've seen from "Two and a Half Men" fans in the past few weeks, it's an option more than a few people wouldn't mind seeing. Sheen is at the top of the call sheet (and the pay scale), but in Jon Cryer, Angus T. Jones, Conchata Ferrell, Holland Taylor, Marin Hinkle and the various recurring players, the show has a pretty strong ensemble. We've heard more than one fan suggest making Ryan Stiles a regular as Herb; it's not a bad idea.

With Sheen gone, what would you like to see happen to "Two and a Half Men"?

who is this charlie **** head anyway.when is he going to be arrested for posession already he should be seeing his kids from behind bars

It'll be renamed "One Man and a Fat Kid".

It's not a tough fix- random surprise long-lost half-sibling. Or a cousin, whichever.

Good on CBS for introducing a consequence to bad behavior.

Let's go with One and a Half Men, then if the household needs another live in, Judith can kick Herb out! Works for me. And maybe the first episode could be everyone at Charlie's funeral after his massive heart attack!

I'd like to see John Stamos fill the role of Charlie. Soap operas change actors all the time, even for significant characters. It may take a minutes but sometimes you learn to like the replacing actor as much or more than the original actor-ex. Jack Abbott in Y&R. The only role I don't think could have been replaced well was J.R. Ewing.

Sheen has acted like an arrogant jackass and, although he was a central figure, I think the best answer for his collosal ego is to get rid of him. I'm a fan, too, but I'd go along with the studio's need to can him. Nobody who works with him can depend on their jobs with him around thinking he is God. Without the writers, Sheen would be nothing, because people don't watch the series to see him, they watch because the writing and situations are hilarious. Maye they should simply replace him and explain to the fans why it was necessary and promise us as good a series as before. Or, they could have Alan move out and go live with a cousin who just happens to have an underachiever son of ten years of age for when Angus gets too old to be the kid, or the 1/2 of the 2.5 men. Either way, get rid of Charlie Sheen and let the chips fall where they may. Hollywood is good at coming up with ideas, but don't try a spin off. There's nothing sure about a spin off succeeding (for example "Joey" as a spin off from Friends).

Let Charlie die in a terrible accident like McLean Stevenson in MASH. Have a episode grieve and then move on to more successful years. Have Charlie's Will leave the house to someone unknown. Would that open up the story.

We really enjoy "Two and a Half Men" in our household, but I don't believe Charlie Sheen is the end-all star of the show. I propose the show sends Charlie to London to pursue Rose, leaving a note asking Alan and Jake to take care of the Malibu house for him while he's gone; a former bimbo of Charlie's stops by & drops off her little boy (Charlie's son) saying she can no longer care for him; and Voila, "Two and a Half Men" is re-cast... with Alan & Jake as the "men" and Charlie's spawn as the "half". Could be pretty entertaining, huh?

Replace Charlie with John Amos. Soap operas successfully replace lead actors and though it takes a minute you sometimes learn to like them as much as the original actor. The only actor I think could not have been replaced was J.R.Ewing.

Sadly, he has a disease and needs to get the appropriate help. Nevertheless, he is an integral part of the show. It will be sad to see him gone! One can only hope that his rock bottom comes before he expires.
