'Brothers & Sisters': When Dave Annable and Odette Yustman broke up

Acting opposite your husband isn't something you always do when you're starting a marriage, but at the time of their wedding last fall, Odette Yustman shot five episodes of "Brothers & Sisters" with real-life spouse Dave Annable. Now in the process of adopting his last name professionally, she says her stint on the ABC drama was harder than it may have looked.

"I didn't really know if I wanted to work with Dave," she tells Zap2it, recalling playing the ultimately temporary girlfriend of Annable's character, Justin. "I'm really big on keeping work and personal life separate, but I finally thought, 'What do you have to lose? We can show it to our kids one day.' And I could say that I got to work with Sally Field and with Ron Rifkin, who actually married us."

Then came the "Brothers & Sisters" scene in which Yustman and Annable broke up, fictionally, and neither was truly prepared for it.

"You have no idea," Yustman maintains. "Both of us were feeling these emotions. I got really choked up and so did Dave, then the director yelled, 'Cut!' He came over to us and said, 'OK. Dave, I'm gonna need you to man up a little. This is not your wife now, this is your girlfriend on the show. But you get to go home with her.' It was really interesting."

Leaving the drama for home, Yustman stars in FOX's security-firm comedy "Breaking In," premiering Wednesday, April 6.
