'American Idol's' Casey Abrams 'feeling better' after hospitalization
Casey Abrams had "American Idol" viewers worried on Thursday, Mar. 10, when he was absent from the Top 13 results show as he was hospitalized for the second time this season. At the beginning of the show, host Ryan Seacrest said, "You'll notice Casey is missing from the group. He is unfortunately sick and in the hospital right now."
Casey later took to his Twitter to update fans on his condition. "Hey guys, thanks for the well wishes, I got some nice fresh blood in me and feeling better. People at Idol & Cedars are treatin me real good."
So why was Casey back in the hospital? A source tells People that the singer has ulcerative colitis, a condition that can be aggravated by stressful situations and causes abdominal pains and cramps.
One former contestant who understands Casey's health plight? Season 9 runner-up Crystal Bowersox who was hospitalized before her first performance show due to complications with her diabetes. She tweeted him, "Stay in this game, Casey. Don't be afraid to say no sometimes. I'm rooting for you."
Casey later responded to Bowersox, saying, "It means a lot coming from you. My health is always first, but this is my dream, I'm going to keep fighting to stay in."
Casey's dream will continue for at least another week as he was safe from elimination on Thursday. He tweeted, "By the way, I just realized... I'm in the top 12! Thanks for voting me into the competition everyone. I owe all of you a big bear hug."

American Idol has finally got it right this time. Me and my family had quit watching a few seasons ago cause it just wasn't good anymore but finally you got it right. The judges are outstanding. The three of them go together like peanut butter and jelly. We love all three of them and hope they are here to stay. I absolutely adore Steven. He is a hoot. Jennifer and Randy got it going on to. They have done a superb job of picking the talent this year. We have so many favorites and it's gonna b hard to pick. Anyway great job to American Idol!!!
