'American Idol': Scotty McCreery fords 'The River,' knows his strengths

If the other Idols aren't careful, Scotty McCreery is going to ride his country train right to the "American Idol" finale without changing a thing. He is likable, he is charming, he's kinda cute and the country music is going to play very well with the "Idol" audience.
Scotty is extraordinarily lucky that the contestants are not made to sing random genres that don't reflect the kinds of artists they are - he might have some trouble if that was the case. But he can stay right in his country lane and be perfectly wonderful every week.
On top of all that, he's talented. He's maybe not blowing the doors off like Garth Brooks or George Strait, but he's young and he's learning. Clearly the instrument is there. What did you think of Scotty's "The River" performance? We thought there were a couple missed notes, but overall it was pretty good.
i really, really like this kid - i think he'll go far - that being said, tonight's performance from him has been my least favorite - i found him almost speaking some words instead of singing them - i felt he should have held some notes instead of cutting them off - and he is adorable
I don't know why everybody's falling all over themselves with this guy. Can we say "over-rated"?
I'm a huge country fan.....yet I find Scotty's performances a real snooze.
And is it just me, or does he look a hell of a lot like MAD Magazine's Alfred E. Neuman? :)
Very Likeable. If this kid did a CD today I would buy it and I'm not a country fan. BUT, there is something about his voice. I have been singing "Letters From Home" for a week now. I just can't get his sound out of my head.
I like him-- it's nice to hear a deep, rich voice. He has to do some faster songs (Two of a Kind, Workin of a Full House or Red Strokes would have been fun. NOT Ain't Going Down which has been done badly on the show. Afraid that Scotty might get "sleepy" with all the slow songs. But still think he's got a record deal coming.
scotty = sooooooo cuuuuuuuute, sooooooo talented, with a demeanor and presence far beyond his age; next to Clay Aiken, he's my fav of all the idols, past and present!!!! Hooray for Scotty!!!
I love Scotty voice and how well he handles himself he is mature for a 16 year old I did not hear any missed notes myself I have sung for nearly thirthy years I know music this young will go far the judges are people should stay to thier roots love him love him he is great may god bless
No fault with his voice...he is PURE country, and puppy dawg cute, BUT his stage presence is really BORING. He needs someone to work with him on that.
Totally enjoyed this young talented person. Will vote for him every week.
Scotty McCreery the best!!! I hope he is the next American Idol Star. I haven't watched much of American Idol in the past but this young man got my attention.... I will watch it now just to see this young man sing every week and I voted for the first time last night..FOR SCOTTY MCCREERY!!! I will buy his records.
Many years in the future when they are doing a TV show about how superstars got their start, we will be watching Scotty perform on American Idol. Even if he doesn't win, someday he will become a country legend. He's just born with it!!!
