'American Idol': Naima Adedapo's Tina Turner cover falls flat
In keeping with the "songs from the year the contestants were born" theme, Naima Adedapo took the "American Idol" stage Wednesday (March 16) evening and totally slayed Tina Turner's "What's Love Got to Do with It" (1984, by the way). And we don't mean "slay" in the sense that judge Randy Jackson usually uses the term.As Randy himself said, "The vocals were a mess." A tough call for one of Jackson's favorites. Jennifer Lopez (herself sporting a fabulously massive mane that had us wondering how Randy and Steven managed to fit at the judges' table) seconded the emotion, getting booed for calling Naima on yet another pitchy performance.
"I'm gonna get my pitch together," said Naimi backstage after the performance. "That's all I can do."
What did you think of Naima top 12 performance?

I think the judges put her in the top 13 based on her backstory, look, and likability more than for her singing. It's too bad she is struggling now..I don't like to see it, but I can't say I am all that surprised.
I completely agree. It was not good. She is making baaaad song choices and arrangements - fast, dance hit versions. She auditioned with Donny Hathaway and has a beautiful voice for that style of music - crooner, blues, but NOT what she is doing. She should stop trying to be a triple threat and get singing down pat first. I am afraid this is it for her :(
reggae princess, i like the way she sing....
Ugh! I know this lady from Milwaukee- and was surprised to find out that she made the top 24. She always tries TOO hard. If she'd relax and not think too much of herself- maybe we'd see her true talent- YIKES!
Still, I've never thought her vocals were stellar!
Love this girl. I hope she stays. VIVA NAIMA ! ! !
I support her efforts but must agree that she needs to choose her songs more carefully. She gives chill bumps when she croons. These dance song numbers seem misfitting for her, awkward. I want to see her win! Please quiet your spirit Naima and wisely choose.
