'American Idol': Lee DeWyze returns to sing 'Beautiful Like You'

The guy who Ryan Seacrest calls one of the nicest contestants ever, Lee DeWyze, returned to the "Amercian Idol" stage on Thursday's (March 17) elimination show to sing his brand new single, "Beautiful Like You."DeWyze, who narrowly defeated Crystal Bowersox (what's she up to, anyway?) to take last season's title, came off calm, cool and collected -- lessons the initially shy and stiff singer learned over the course of last year's "Idol" journey. Performing with a full band and wielding his own guitar, Lee's song -- from his first major label debut -- was a hit with the audience.
Why not? It was totally in DeWyze's sweet spot -- John Mayer-reminiscent soft rock. Non-threatening, sensitive and a perfect showcase for his understated voice.
A sampling of the potentially swoon-inducing lyrics:
"If you could only just stop, stop, stop running / If you could only take a second to breathe it in / Everything that you know would be beautiful, like you."

Lee was great on Idol tonight. It was nice he was able to showcase one of the best songs on his album. He showed them all how to kill it on stage!
I thought he did amazing. I loved him on Idol, love his CD, and fell in love all over again seeing him tonight!
lee dewyze is a true artist and his whole album 'live it up' is lighthearted and beautiful just like this song..he is amazing as a person and performer as well as the only reason i watched the show at all. gotta go watch it again..love him!!!
Awesome performance from an awesome guy! Fame has not changed him at all. He's remained down-to-earth and humble. He deserves any and all good things that come his way! Keep up the great work, Lee!!
That's the way an American idol performs a song. It was heartfelt and he connected with the audience. His voice is amazing, but he maintains his humility and deserves everything good coming his way. He totally kicked *** tonight lol!
Amazing... Lee has true talent and I hope he starts to get the recognition he deserves now.
If you all like him so much why didn't you buy his album. He had the worst sales of any idol winner or runner up... Crystal's debut album sold better... but still not by much. Last year was the worst ever... face It. Most of this years contestants are so much better... I think that Lee's appearance was embarrassing... for a reigning winner.
Though the article doesn't claim it, the News Box calls it his first single. This is his SECOND single cuz Sweet Serendipity bombed. Sadly, because it was a nice song, but it bombed nonetheless.
Lee did a beautiful job with a beautiful song. And his CD Live it Up shot up to #4 on itunes pop tonight. Nice.
This should help Lee and he needs all the help he can get. Crystal seems to be getting much more hype.
