'All My Children': Susan Lucci seems optimistic about series' future
"All My Children" fans feeling a little anxious after recent reports that the soap is on borrowed time might want to listen to Susan Lucci.
The 40-plus-year veteran of the ABC daytime series stopped by "Good Morning America" to promote her new book, "All My Life," and took the opportunity to address reports of "AMC's" looming cancellation.
"We'll see," she says. "As long as we have these loyal, passionate fans in our corner -- including Oprah [Winfrey], who had us on just a few weeks ago for her final season."
Oprah may have a lot of pull in this world, but she's not that powerful. Fortunately, Lucci also cites two more things working in her series favor."The fact that the network moved us from New York to our brand new digs in LA was a big financial vote of confidence," she says. "And we just received a letter from the vice president in charge of finance congratulating us on what great shape we're in."
Still, we can't help but notice that the normally bubbly Lucci gets a little somber when talk turns to the uncertain state of her job -- which seems more disconcerting than reassuring.

I have recently lost interest in amc. Which really shocks me when I think about it, it's the only soap I used too watch in the early 90's when I seriously started watching or taping. Now I can't wait 'til it's over to get to OLTL & the perfect GH.
gosh thats an out an out shame ive watched it for years and i cant imagine tv without all my children and my favorite is debbie morgan and susan lucci of course,rebecca buding and cameron matheison that would be a gray mistake.
I think AMC has always been a better soap than OLTL. OLTL also over the last several years has traditionally had lower ratings than AMC. I think OLTL should be the one to go!!! I have always been a DAYS and Y/R watcher and fan here but when I do tune in to ABC stories for a bit it is always AMC and never OLTL or GH!! ABC get rid of the worst soap which is OLTL!!!
it's time, i've watched for 40 yrs and it is now ridiculous, the Erica, Jackson, the baby swap. (would have been better dealing with grief.) I fast forward through most of it. It's a shame, they were "like family"
All My Children is such a great show. They are trying so many new and different storylines lately.

All myChildren is my favorite soap for the past 41 years! I am shocked that there is a rumor that it might be canceled! Keep AMC and take off something else like B&b or One life to live. There are to many talk shows on now. Why do we need another one??Tori Spelling will not replace All my children.Why not put Tori in Oprahs open slot when she retires?SAVE ALL MY CHILDREN!
I have watched AMC sinced day 1 and I LOVE IT! It will be a very bad, bad, bad idea to take it off the air! There are not any other soaps on that I care for anymore. I have watched just about all of them since I was little so I know.
