Tim Halperin flirts with Jennifer Lopez on 'American Idol'

tim-halperin.jpgListen up boys. The most important thing to remember about women is this: Never ask them how old they are.

"American Idol" hopeful Tim Halperin (from Forth Worth, Texas) did just that during his audition on the Feb. 3 episode when he asked judge Jennifer Lopez how old she was. He started off okay, telling Lopez he had a crush on her growing up, since he was in the fifth grade. When she asked how old he was, he answered with, "23. How old are you?" Awwwkward. Luckily, Lopez laughed it off and said, "None of your business. I'm young enough for you. Don't worry."

Despite his slip up, Halperin was sent through to Hollywood Week with his rendition of Maroon 5's "She Will Be Loved," despite receiving a "no" from Randy Jackson. We thought he was pretty good, but definitely not the best we've seen so far.

Maybe Halperin's nerves got the better of him and caused him to ask the dreaded age question. "I've had a crush on her as long as I can remember," he said. "I'm a little nervous to see what she thinks about me."

At least Halperin didn't say this pick-up line directly to Lopez or we would have had to hide our faces in our pillows from the awkwardness: "Jennifer, my love don't cost a thing. I have news for you, it's free for you."

Tim's going to Hollywood! I'm so excited!

Ok, the judges are much better (they actually judge unlike Randy/Paula who said absolutely nothing the past 4 seasons or so. I like Steven because he's sayings are funny, but he's got real emotion too (the girl w/ TBI --Media audition), so I don't mind him. Randy's the only one who really bugs me b/c I feel like he's trying to recreate Simon/Paula w/ him/Jennifer and she's clearly been annoyed a couple of times, but at least he's really judging and not just saying hot/dog all the time. If Ryan tries to do homoerotic banter w/ Steven like he did w/ Simon, they should fire his a$$. He makes way too much for his bloated ego. Tom Bergeron of DWTS knows how to do good judges banter w/out being utterly tasteless, and Cat Deealy of SYTYCD knows how to highlight the contestants. Ryan only puffs up himself. But I am liking the judging better.

I disagree with these judges saying that Tim Halperin needs to step it up and work on his voice a bit. It's hard to sing acapello (is that how you spell it?) I think he did great! He is a star already to me. I would go see him at Exit/In here in Nashville with a group of friends and I would enjoy the show and have a great time.
