Pilot Season: TV of Tomorrow
The CW orders four pilots, including new Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage project
Fans of "The O.C." and "Gossip Girl" should enjoy this latest pilot season nugget of news very much. The CW has announced four pilot pickups, including one from the "O.C."/"GG" dream team of Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, EW reports.
Their show is called "Hart of Dixie" and is about a "young New York City doctor after she inherits a medical practice in a small Southern town inhabited by an eclectic and eccentric group of characters." So basically it's like "Gossip Girl" meets "Everwood"? Leila Gerstein and Len Goldstein are behind the project as well.
Also picked up by the network was the much-talked about zombie series "Awakening," which centers on "two sisters who come of age and face off against one another amidst the beginning of a zombie uprising." If only one of the Michalka sisters wasn't already starring on a CW show. Alas, it was not meant to be.
"Heavenly" is about a young attorney who teams with a former angel to help clients at a legal aid clinic. The pitch? "She saves clients' butts while he saves their souls." Did you cringe while reading that? We totally cringed. Spoiler Alert! The angel half of the dynamic legal duo has never experienced human emotions so we're guessing a human/angel angsty love affair will be happening. The project is from "Supernatural's" co-executive producer Richard Hatem.
Rounding out the group is "Life" producer Laurie Arent's "Cooper and Stone," which follows "two smart young female detectives on Chicago's North Side [who] are best friends, [and] equally adept at discussing fashion, music, pop culture as they are solving homicides."
Which pilot sounds most intriguing to you? We are Team Schwartz and Savage by default.

Heart of Dixie seems to be more like "Gossip Girl" meets "Gilmore Girls" moreso than Everwood anyway.
Awakening seems to be capable of attempting to fill the scifi void of Smallville.
Heavenly and Copper and Stone BOTH make me cringe.
And all female? Really, sounds like the old CW to me....hopefully the new Pres can bring more diversified programming once Ostroff's keister is out the door!
Dixie at Heart sounds more like Gossip Girl meets Gilmore Girls. Moreso than meets Everwood anyway!
Awkening seems as if it can attempt to fill the sci-fi void after Smallville.
Cooper and Stone and Heavenly BOTH make me cringe.
:In summary, sounds like same CW crap. All female leads/story lines. Hopefully the new President will make more diverse programming decisions one Ostroff FINALLY leaves!

Thank you, Derek, for telling us your thoughts three times. We didn't get it the first two times...
All I can say is, *YAWN*. None of these shows seems interesting.
Would love to have another zombie themed show on the air. Just not that one and certainly NOT on the CW. That's the only one that even remotely piques my interest. The rest.....pass.
WAIT - WHY is the CW giving Josh and Stephanie another chance? They had their chance with Gossip Girl, had something good going for them, then shoved it away under a rug and now it's complete trash. Josh doesn't even work on GG anymore, he's handed the reigns to Savage and Safran, among others, and he already has Chuck, that Michelle Trachtenberg show, that new Rachel Bilson show, and he wants to be a big-time director. GREEDY MUCH?
