'Smallville,' 'Supernatural' seasons conclude with two-hour finales

tom-welling-smallville-final-season-trailer.jpgIf "Smallville" fans were worried that a January preemption meant that The CW wasn't making the iconic final season a network priority, they can now rest assured. "Smallville's" series finale will air on May 13 with an epic two-hour conclusion to Clark Kent's (Tom Welling) journey as he takes on Darkseid and finally fulfills his destiny.

In a statement, executive producers Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson say, "Paying homage to 10 seasons is no small task, and wrapping up each character and story arc has been extremely important to everyone involved in the show. We're excited to be able to make the final moments of 'Smallville' a television event, as the character we've grown up with makes his legendary transformation."

For those of you who were hoping that Tom Welling might be cast in the upcoming "Superman" movie -- a role which ultimately went to Henry Cavill -- this movie-length event may be the next best thing.

"Supernatural" fans, don't fret. Though "Supernatural" will be pre-empted on May 13, its Season 6 finale will air on May 20 and will also be two hours long.

Should I freak out that it'll be Supernatural Series finale, too?

*Praying for another season*

YAY FOR SMALLVILLE! CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!! THIS SHOW IS AAAAAAAAAAAWESOM.

Wait a minute. Does this mean "Supernatural" isn't getting a season seven?!

Tom should have been cast. At least he is an American...

Notice they said "Supernatural Season 6 Finale: - not "Series Finale"

How is Smallville a priority when they pre-empted it to rerun The Vampire Diaries. VD was the priority, not Smallville. The CW made it very clear Smallville and Supernatural weren't a priority.

I don't understand all the excitment. It's not like episode 22 will be 2hr long. It's just 2 episodes (21&22) airing back to back (like Absolute Justice last year). SPN will be getting the same the following week and it's not even a series finale. What is so special about that. It doesn't warrant a press release to get jumpy over. I'm done with the CW once smallville is over.

I wish they let us know somthing about the lois and clark wedding and i hope it is before the last eps or i feel it wan't happen and i think if they are not married before the last eps i fear a mindwipe of lois will happen.thats way i thank they brought granny goodness in to mindwipe her it will be a sad day for this smallville fan.

@NBCSucks. Have you ever seen the first Christopher Reeve Superman film? Everyone on Krypton spoke with British accents. Superman is an immigrant - it makes perfect sense for someone from Britain or another country to play him.

Greatr news! Too bad they couldnt have ended this 4 years ago, when Welling was still under 30! Series went wayyyy past its end date! Anti-climatic!
