Shelley Long and Matt Dillon on 'Modern Family': What did you think?

Eighties icon Shelley Long, 61, is choosing her TV and movie appearances carefully these days, so it's always a treat to see her on our screens -- especially when she appears on "Modern Family" as the inevitable pot-stirrer DeDe Pritchett, Mitchell and Claire's mother.This time, she arrives (backed by ominous music) with Matt Dillon, who plays Robbie Sullivan, Claire's high school sweetheart. Apparently, when DeDe bumped into Robbie -- a limo driver -- she forgot to mention Claire's husband.
With a shaggy wig, an earring, and a four-pack of fuzzy navel wine coolers, Dillon looks every bit the nightmare ex-boyfriend. We don't blame Claire for the copious amounts of wine consumed throughout the half-hour episode as DeDe and Robbie reminisce about Claire's misspent youth... or when she busts DeDe and Robbie in a limo makeout sesh.
Ew.
We hope Long returns to the show soon - along with "all the crazy in her arsenal." The best part? The full on linebacker tackle she lays on Gloria when she realizes the root of all her problems.

Shelley Long is 61? Wow! Where has the time gone?
She was great again, and yes, it would be nice to see her in more than one episode per season.
Kudos to whoever does the casting for this show.
Sorry, but one appearance of DeDe per season is just right and enough for me. More than that would be too much. There really wasn't much redeeming about her character. Everybody else has their flaws, but are loveable anyway. She is not.
Looks like Shelly Long put on some weight from the clips I've seen. Did she/they do this just for the character, or has she gained weight in real life in the past 2 years. She looked slimmer in her guest appearance back in 2009.
I love Shelley Long on the show and they could not have a cast a more perfect addition to the already incredible cast. I really hope they bring her back more often!!!
