'Real Housewives of Miami's' Marysol Patton: My mother cursed me
You may think we've seen our fair share of witches on Bravo's "Real Housewives" series, but "The Real Housewives of Miami" can actually claim a real witch (or "seer" as cast member Marysol Patton calls her mother).
Marysol's 76-year-old mother is one of the standout figures in Tuesday's (Feb. 22 series premiere) and if you thought Marysol's face (which she denies having had work on) is unique, then you haven't met her mother, Elsa Carreras Patton. It seems to run in the family.
In a recent press call, Marysol describes her mother's gift. "I don't really ask for it," she says about her mother's insights. "She just kind of tells me what she feels when she feels something and now I listen to her because she's always dead on."
Her mother doesn't stop at just reading one's fortune, she casts curses, too. Marysol says that she has been the recipient of at least one of those.
"When I got married the first time, I remember her coming down to the room where I was getting ready," she recalls. "And she brought me these very fancy pearls. And she said, 'I've been saving these your entire life. You need to wear these or your marriage will be cursed.'"
So, what did Marysol do? She refused to wear the pearls (which she says she knows her mother only purchased a month before her wedding), because they didn't match the casual theme of her ceremony.
"And she was like 'I curse you and I curse your marriage, and you will never last with this man,'" the housewife continues. "And she walked away and you know, a few years later it was down the tubes."
Marysol should be a little afraid of how the "seer" feels about her participation in the series, but the housewife says her mother's gifts don't extend to reading the news.
"My mother has no idea what's coming to her, because she doesn't go on the internet, she doesn't read weekly," she says. "So I really don't know if she knows what to expect."

The cultural mix plus Miami could make them even more entertaining than B-Hills wives and my guilty pleasure.
what cultural mix. i've spent quite a bit of time in miami and it's not all latino/cuban/hispanic, with one white and one lebanese. i truly expected this rh to be the most diverse cast of all. i am disappointed it wasn't, and checked out after 15 mins.
That mother/daughter duo is a great train wreck in the making.
Elsa Patton has the most personality of the bunch. She says I am a woman of this century, I am not a victorian woman. Keep an eye on this one because she has all it takes to be intriguing of the whole of the cast. Lets hear more from her, I think shes great.
I think her mother and her do have a very unique face 0_0 (if thats what you would like to refer to it as)and i was surprised this cast wasnt more diverse...other races are just a wealthy and successful in miami, as it is in jersey, new york, bhills, and atl. all of them could benefit in ratings with more cultures/races.
Obviously Philippe got married to marisol for his green card. Besides her mother, she is ok, but Adriana must had been a prostitute - she has no manners. What a ridiculous person. She is the most ugly
I told my hubby that Elsa looked like a lion. Then I googled "Elsa" and the first thing that came up was about Elsa the Lion HAHA!
I love Elsa! She is a trip!!! I guess she will always have a drink in her hand, which makes her oh so special. I do believe she is a witch. I hope she casts a spell on Cristy and turns her into a frog.
PLEASE!!!! these people are lame, tried watching the whole season but wasnt to interesting...for what i can say is Marysol is the nicest one of all, but her mother needs to look in a mirror, if she can before it breaks, i wouldnt have ever had any work done if i would end like that and many can agree!!!!!
Wonder if Marisol's mom had an accident or several facial surgeries?
