NBC's 'The Voice' lands Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green as coaches
NBC's new singing competition, "The Voice" has landed two big names for its upcoming freshman season.
The network announces that Grammy-winning musicians and singers Cee Lo Green and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine will make up half of the coaching team when the series premieres April 26.
Green, who's "Forget You" has been inescapable on the tube this season, reacted to his new gig in a statement released by NBC. "It's an honor for me to be able to help mold a malleable and new talent in such a fashion as 'The Voice'," says Green. "Being a coach on 'The Voice' is a substantial responsibility, and I take it with sincerity and distinction."
He's possibly the classiest person to ever write a song about a certain four-letter word.
In a first for a TV singing competition, the coaches will contestants for their teams without ever actually seeing them. During the blind auditions, the coaches will push a button if they want one of the would-be contestants for their team.
Once their teams are set, they'll pit them against members of other teams to decide who will advance in the competition -- giving the coach with the most remaining contestants bragging rights.
Sounds cutthroat!
