'Million Dollar Money Drop' online play-along: Did it work for you?

million-dollar-drop-320.jpgWe'll confess -- we were excited about the online play-along aspect of the season finale of "Million Dollar Money Drop." We've been following the show all along and, other than the fact that the show moves too slowly, we've enjoyed testing our trivia/deductive reasoning skills along with the TV players.

A chance to play along online with the TV players seemed like a great time. We settled in with our playing partner and were ready and raring to go. Except it didn't really work, for several reasons.

First, our window froze after the "Wizard of Oz" question. We bet our million dollars on "Toto" and then nothing ever happened. Nothing dropped and it didn't move on to the next question. After about 10 minutes of waiting, we closed the window.

But we have other qualms. When the question appeared, the choice screens didn't put the choices on them. That would have been handy because you had to pause the TV and make sure you knew which screen was for which answer.

One other thing that was annoying (though we don't know how to fix it) is that you're trying to figure out your answers, but because you have to have the TV playing in order to see the answers, you are influenced by the on-screen players. Having the answers on the podiums in the online play-along would help that a bit. Perhaps they don't want the answers to pop up in the online window because they were worried nobody would watch the show?

We are curious as to whether the online version worked for anybody and what you thought of it. Did you play all the way through the show on TV? Did you have to start over once the TV couple was eliminated? Or did you get to keep your total and continue with the next couple's questions? Let us know in the comments!

Worked great for me. The show overall is a bit slow, but the live game on my PC was OK. Good idea.

Didn't work at all for me. Got the opening window, but never showed a single question. I tried closing the window and signing on again, still no luck. A big bust for me. One would have thought Fox would have tried it out before inviting the public to use it.

I didn't have any of those problems so I think it was your browser. The only gripe I could say I had was the fact that the tv show was a good 10-15 seconds ahead of the game...so there was no drama for me as I already knew if i was correct or incorrect a good ten seconds before things did or didn't drop

My brother and I logged on separately (central time zone). We didn't know about it in advance, and logged in after it started. It also froze on the Wizard of Oz question, and stayed frozen until the last question, which we were both able to answer. We didn't get any of the personalized statistics, just general ones about other players, with no names. I logged on during the west coast time slot, just to see how it went, technically. I was online when it started, and got full functionality (I think). Twice, it showed the five fastest online players(first name and last initial, or whatever was put in those boxes), and how much $ they kept, then showed my rank, bank ($) and response time. The fastest ones, during the west coast air time, had to have (also) watched it earlier in the evening, because they were answering in less than 2 seconds, betting the farm, and getting them all right. After it aired in my time zone, it had general stats about how many players were on line, what percentage had gone bust, and how responses were distributed across the choices (for one of the questions). The format wasn't quite right for my computer screen, and it took a little while to move around the screen a little bit and figure out how to move the money.

WORKED GREAT FOR ME .... i love this show soo much but playing it really made me feel a diff. way about it .. either the questions were really hard this ep. or the pressure got to me because i lost like 2 times lol

had a little trouble for the first 2 questions, but then worked perfectly. Lot of fun, even though we lost it all at the end

DId not work at all for me..

Thanks fox...

It didn't work for me. I just kept getting the "game in progress. wait for the next question" screen, even though I had signed on before they even asked the first question. I tried relauching again - same thing. I even tried using a different browser. Nothing.

I was bummed. It didn't work here either. I had the page up and ready to go...and nothing. Never even saw the first question. I too tried closing it out and opening it again and still nothing. My browser and connection seemed fine so I think Fox needs to work out the kinks if this is going to be a returning element.

We were so excited to try this play along...we logged in as early as you could. BUT...it kept giving us the "wait for next question" notice. We tried again, but nothing. It kept saying "wait". We were disappointed. :(
