Pilot Season: TV of Tomorrow
Jamie Bamber reports to Ron Moore's '17th Precinct'
The latest round of pilot casting includes a "Battlestar Galactica" alumnus going back to work for his former boss. The rundown:"BSG's" Jamie Bamber has landed one of the lead roles in NBC's drama pilot "17th Precinct," created by "Battlestar" executive producer Ron Moore. As the title suggests, it's a cop show, but it takes place in a world where magic and other supernatural elements are part of everyday life. Bamber, late of "Law & Order: UK," will play a homicide detective. [TVLine]
Former "24" regular Annie Wersching and Larry Gilliard Jr. ("The Wire") have signed on to ABC's drama "Partners." Wersching will play one of the title characters (along with Scottie Thompson), who are police detectives and secretly half-sisters. Gilliard is playing a character named Dr. J, though presumably not the NBA legend.
Also: FOX's Liz Meriwether comedy, which stars Zooey Deschanel as a woman who after a breakup moves in with three guys, has cast two of those three dudes. They are Max Greenfield ("Veronica Mars," "Ugly Betty") and Jake M. Johnson ("No Strings Attached"). [Deadline]
Finally, Rob Huebel ("Children's Hospital," "The Office") is the first actor cast in "Family Album," a FOX comedy about a stressed-out father who takes his family on a long vacation in hopes of reconnecting with them. Huebel will play the guy's brother. [Deadline]
