James Franco on daytime, Oscars, 'Camelot,' more: Zap2it's must-watch TV this week
TV comebacks seem to be the theme on Zap2it's must-watch list this week. We get a double dose of James Franco. He returns to daytime before he hits the big time as the co-host of this week's Oscar awards program. Tyra Banks also returns with 16 new model hopefuls and even "Hellcats" has a return to cheer about.
Here's our must-watch TV this week:
Tuesday, Feb. 22
'Hellcats' (The CW), 9 p.m. ET
Three words: Dan. Patch. Returns. "Hellcats" has been seriously lacking in our favorite southern ray of sunshine, and his return to Memphis is the only thing that can save it. He's got a new love interest, a new haircut, and he's going to be wearing a suit, ladies. A suit.
Wednesday, Feb. 23
'America's Next Top Model' premiere (The CW), 8 p.m. ET
TyTy is back and she has 16 new beautiful young ladies whose hearts she'll alternately break and put back together in the upcoming Cycle 16. Tyra Banks has been promoting the idea that fans think they know what's coming, which makes us think Tyra will try to outdo her own crazy in this premiere.
Friday, Feb. 25
James Franco returns to 'General Hospital' (ABC) - Check listings
Our favorite sociopathic serial killer, Franco, will be stopping by "General Hospital" on his way to hosting the Oscars Sunday night. And from the photos we've seen, he's already wearing his tux. This will only be a two-day guest spot (the second part airs Monday, Feb. 28) but he'll be around long enough to cause trouble for Jason Morgan ... even if it's only by phone.

'Portlandia' (IFC), 10:30 p.m. ET
For its very brief Season 1 run, "Portlandia" has been too funny for its own good -- and a welcome outlet for Fred Armisen while the the current season of "Saturday Night Live" has seemed particularly subpar. The lampooning of Pacific Northwest hipsters comes to an end on Friday though, and it's your last chance to live the dream of the '90s before the show goes off the air until 2012.
'Camelot' preview (Starz), 11:05 p.m. ET
I can literally watch anything that has to do with Arthurian legend. I even convinced myself to watch the British series, "Merlin." So, I'm very excited to see what Starz does with the iconic figures in its special preview of their new series, "Camelot." Joseph Fiennes plays Merlin and "Twilight's" Jamie Campbell Bower plays Arthur. "Camelot" is also the first new series under President and Chief Executive Chris Albrecht since he left HBO. So, we're doubly interested to see what they do with the legend.
Saturday, Feb. 26
Film Independent Spirit Awards (IFC), 10 p.m. ET
With countless indie films out there and very little publicity surrounding them, sometimes it can be tough to find the gems that are undoubtedly hidden in each year's crop of flicks. We absolutely love movies and are so excited to watch this weekend's Film Independent Spirit Awards. Not only to pick out some lesser-known titles to add to our Netflix queue, but because the show itself will be hosted by Joel McHale -- so we know it'll be entertaining. We'll have plenty more Spirit Awards coverage over on Pop2it later this week, so be sure to check back.
Sunday, Feb. 27
83rd annual Academy Awards (ABC), 8:30 p.m. ET/5:30 PT
The thing is, I almost don't care who wins best picture. What I'm really interested to see is how non-comedian hosts James Franco and Anne Hathaway -- two very likable actors who are good at comedy -- do in leading the broadcast. And yes, I'll probably stick around to see if "The King's Speech" or "The Social Network" (or some dark horse) takes home the big prize.
