'CSI': What did you think of Grissom's return?
As implicitly promised in all the teases leading up to the show, Thursday's (Feb. 3) episode of "CSI" featured the return of the show's original lead character, Gil Grissom (William Petersen) -- at least for a couple minutes.
It was not, however, a particularly splashy comeback. Grissom appeared only at the end of the episode (the scene is above) to chat with his wife, Sara (Jorja Fox) and mom (guest star Phyllis Frelich), via video conference. He wasn't directly involved in the case of the week, which concerned a murder at the college for the deaf where Gil's mom teaches -- although Sara's investigation stirred up a lot of Gil-related feelings -- and he didn't interact with any of his other former co-workers.
(Petersen's cameo also didn't boost the show's ratings. The episode averaged 13.8 million viewers and a 3.0 rating among adults 18-49, pretty much in line with its same-day average for this season.)
The scene did, however, highlight the oddly touching chemistry between Petersen and Fox. Their characters are not the most socially adept, but together they make a rather nice couple. Here's hoping that the "CSI" team can persuade Petersen to do a bigger guest spot somewhere down the road.
What did you think of Petersen's return, and of the episode as a whole?

Just reminds me that without Grissom, the show just isn't as entertaining.
I had missed Grissom. I actually stopped watching not long after he was done, it just kind of went downhill for me. But for some strange reason I turned my tv on last night to watch, and it happened to be this episode, I also noticed that Jorja Fox is back on the title credits (I'm probably WAY late on noticing this haha). Anyway, loved seeing him on, even if just for a minute.
Like the other posters I must admit I miss Grissom dreadfully. I stopped watching last year as Fishburne is overpaid (by far) for his role. Grissom sadly is CSI and CSI is Grissom...If he returns to the show I bet a lot of people would start watching again and it would in my mind have no problem beating Grey's Anatomy in the younger demographic if he did return.
Until he returns I won't be watching.
Always good to see the Griss, and REALLY liked that they brought up a lof of issues that really didn't make any sense around Sara and Gil always being apart after "finally" making the move to be together.... They really need to bring a resolution to that storyline.
I loved the whole episode, and the final Grissom scene was the icing on the cake! Fox and Petersen do have a unique chemistry, very scene driven, and wonderful to watch. Loved having the 'family' feel to their relationship. Awesome! Hope he comes back for some more spots.
I rarely watch CSI in real time anymore, but last night, knowing that it was going to be a Sara-centric episode with a Billy Petersen cameo appearance, I could barely wait until the show started. And I wasn't disappointed. It made me miss Grissom and my favorite TV couple all the more for realizing, when it ended, that it would be a long time before we see them together again.
Now if Jorja Fox takes the female lead next season, I could get hooked again!
I loved loved the whole episode :)
I just love GSR and missed it so much that last scene with ZGrissom moved meto tears I miss Grissom so much :(
Loved this ep, another good one this season
The reason why the ratings were so low is cause (1) only a few knew he was making an appearance and (2) CSI has been doing repeats on and off A LOT lately, it's hard for any fan to keep up
This was a great show for a season that has been pretty good. I love Jorja Fox and could watch her entertain for an entire hour all by herself. But the entire team dynamics was great and I am thankful that William Petersen let Grissom visit. I got all teary eyed
I miss Grissom! It was nice to see him even if only for a brief moment.
