Chuck Lorre takes a post-Sheen break from vanity cards
Charlie Sheen seems rather put out by a vanity card his "Two and a Half Men" boss Chuck Lorre ran after the show a week and a half ago. So Lorre is taking a break from writing new mini-essays to run at the end of his shows. Sort of.The card after Monday's (Feb. 21) "Mike & Molly" announced that Lorre -- who's been putting the cards on the end of his shows since "Dharma & Greg" -- wouldn't be writing the cards for a while. Instead, he said he would "display a photograph of a part of my body that is entirely innocuous." In that case, it was his elbow.
He posted the same card after Thursday's "Big Bang Theory," except it was, according to Lorre's vanity card archives, "Censored!" (over a somewhat ambiguous-looking picture of his knuckle, perhaps?).
Anyway, here's what Lorre has to say about not saying anything:
It was more fun writing these things when I was fairly certain no one was reading them. That is no longer the case. These days it seems like every vanity card is getting scrutinized and criticized by network executives, corporate legal departments and publicity departments, TV journalists and tabloid bloggers. Believe it or not, my musings have been both cheered and jeered by TV Guide! But lately it's gotten out of hand. Which is why I've decided to take a break for a few weeks. Let things cool off a little. Instead of writing short essays that upset people, I've decided to use my one second of network TV to do something simple and hassle-free. Starting with this card, I'm going to display a photograph of a part of my body that is entirely innocuous. No longer will I share some troublesome piece of my mind. Now I will share an actual piece of Chuck that is incapable of offending anyone. You know, a foot, a hand, or maybe a toe.

I just can't believe that it has come to the point where I agree with Charlie. Chuck should have kept is opinion about Charlie to himself. That's why Chuck will no longer do those cards, because he knows he has bitten the hand that feeds him. Chuck was nothing before Charlie and 2 1/2 men. Yes, Dharma & Greg does not count, I think that was his show after Roseanne FIRED him.
Time to get rid of Charlie Sheen.
Charlies Angel's, ER, Roseanne, and Three's company all went on for years without their major STAR.
Get a cousin to visit and kill charlie off. I will attend the funeral. Ohio Mother of 3
I read the card about Charlie, it wasn't that bad. Chuck has the top 2 comedies on TV cancel 2 1/2 Men and he'll still have the number 1 comedy on TV besides of his 3 shows 2 1/2 Men is the weakest of the lot. Charlie's lost it I expect Martin to step in again ant time. I feel for Charlie's family and the crew and their's who CHARLIE ahas screwed over yet again. CBS had no choice but to shut it down again and I don't see how it could ever come back with Charlie a member of the cast, the show is doomed.
What a vain idiot
Thank goodness the powers-that-be have come to their senses. Charlie Sheen, or to use his own mindset (Carlos Estevez, which is his REAL name) is nothing more than an arrogant, self-centered, little man with not a scintilla of regard for what his actions will cost the crew on the show financially. I'm not worried about the actors, because they make a decent salary and I'm sure they have savings. But, these poor crew members...what do THEY do now? They can't get other jobs and they have families to support. Sheen wants to buy TWO HOUSES for his ex-wives..Why doesn't he give the money to the people that he has now made jobless?
I'm a fan of 2 1/12 Men living in middle America. My friends and I read the vanity cards and enjoy sharing some of the funnier or amuzing ones. I have enjoyed Mr. Lorre's quirky off beat form of self expression and will miss it because God forbid a drug addicted over paid celebrity gets his feelings hurt and all the "journilists" with nothing better to do than complain about a writers vanity card. Ridiculous
I love Chuck's vanity cards. I only started noticing them and reading them (thank goodness for my DVR) a couple of years ago, but I stop EVERY time I watch Big Bang Theory (a much better show then 2 1/2 Men, IMO), and I'll miss them. Keep it up, Chuck! Upchuck. Hahahaha!
Sorry.
SCREW Chuck Lorre, his lies and exaggerations about Sheen don't wash with me. There's a lot more to be said about the demonisation of Charlie Sheen and it has more to do with his courageous comments about 911 than a bit of partying and a few lines of coke.
Charlie will be remembered long after Lorre has left this Earth. What sort of ******* writes such slander about his main star. If I were Charlie I'd tear up my contract with this scumbag and move on to greener pastures.
Please Chuck Lorre fights despite the scandals charlie sheen give him another chance because he and funny and without him the show will get bad we already have eight seasons with charlie sheen and will be strange without him he makes with the funny jestes already in the face and get used to him without it going to be bad.
please a fan of the two and half men. we love charlie sheen.
