CBS News reporter Lara Logan sexually assaulted in Egypt
Lara Logan, the chief foreign correspondent for CBS News, was the victim of a sexual assault while covering the situation in Egypt last week.CBS says Logan -- who a week earlier had been detained by Egyptian authorities -- was attacked on Friday (Feb. 11), the day Egypt's president, Hosni Mubarak, stepped down. She and her crew were in Cairo's Tahrir Square (as pictured above) recording the scene for "60 Minutes" when "she and her team and their security were surrounded by a dangerous element amidst the celebration," the network says in a statement. "It was a mob of more than 200 people whipped into frenzy."
Logan got separated from her crew, the network says, and was subjected to "a brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating" before a group of women and Egyptian soldiers saved her.
She returned to the United States on Saturday and checked into a hospital, where she is recovering. CBS says it won't make any further comment on Logan's condition and says she and her family "respectfully request privacy at this time."
We hope she recovers quickly.

We need better protection for journalists who risk their lives to relay information to the world. It is not justified if treated with such callousness. Wishing Logan the best.
I too wish Lara Logan the best. I will keep her in my prayers.
I blame CBS. There was no need for her (or any other reporter) to be in that crowd. They saw how much publicity Anderson Cooper was getting from being beaten up and they wanted THEIR reported in the middle of the mob. She didn't have to be with the mob to report that people are happy. Same for Richard Engle of NBC (not being sexist) Just have the camera person scan the crowd.
Lara walks like an Egyptian now and won't poo right for at least a month.
THese lib reporters and commies code pink and Obama constantly lecture us on the "religion of peace" and the NON radical muslim brotherhood...and this is how they celebrate freedom...
What Amanpour and Hillary not rape material..Tracy Morgan
You know in some countries rape or sexual assaults (whatever you want to call it) is not even a crime.
Yeah journalism can be a dangerous job and american are not liked (for good reasons) in lot's of arabian countries but of course i am sorry for her. I hope it makes her stronger and she can continue to do a good job and maybe being more cautious yet she can't really prevent things like that even more in exceptional circumstances like it is the case with the state of the Egyptian country is right now..sadly it can happen.
I don't see how we can support Egypt if they celebrate by being violent and picking Lara out. How many other women did this happen to in that crowd that we don't know about? How did her security team let her get away from them? Hopes for her fast recovery are good but what of her mental recovery? You can't trust anybody.
I am a woman and I watch 60 minutes every week and Mrs. Laura Logan always uses her sex appeal during her interviews, either with her posture, her eyes or her lips. She seems to need to seduce. She travels the world in tight skirts and high heels. Is it really necessary ? Mrs Amampour does not.
I am an iranian and know about islam history well.In Muslim`s wars, rape of non_moslims was legal!!!
This is fact of islam...
