Britt Robertson cast in The CW's 'Secret Circle' pilot, Who is she playing?

EW
reports that "Life Unexpected's" Britt Robertson has been cast in the new project which is based on a series of  books by "Vampire Diaries" author L.J. Smith. However, the casting news comes with a catch.

"Life Unexpected" hasn't officially been canceled as the CW has yet to decide on the show's fate. It's common for an actor to be cast in a new series while their current series is still part on the network's lineup. If The CW loves "Secret Circle" and Robertson in it, it could impact "LUX's" fate.

The project centers on a young woman, Cassie, who moves to a new town and soon learns she is part of a secret coven of witches. If that wasn't enough pressure for a teenage girl, she is also the key that will unlock a centuries-old battle of good versus evil.

It hasn't been announced who Robertson will be playing, but we're betting it's the female lead of the show, Cassie, or the leader of the coven (and Cassie's best friend) Diana.

"The Vampire Diaries"
co-creator Kevin Williamson recently came on board the project to write the script and serve as executive producer. "TVD's" consulting producers Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain are also executive producing and Liz Friedlander, who has directed "TVD" among other CW shows, will be directing the pilot episode.

The finale of LUX sat on my DVR until yesterday. I was putting off watching it, figuring it would have no conclusive ending. Boy was I wrong. With maybe 7 minutes left, a "2 Years Later" card came on screen followed by the most perfect ending I could have imagined for the show. There is NO CHANCE LUX is returning, and (I can't believe I'm saying this) it's better that way.

I agree with the first comment, LUX was painful to watch this season but they eventually gave it a decent ending. Better not screw that up with a surprise 3rd season.

I'm not sure about Secret Circle, but we'll see.

Publicists will do anything to keep a rumor monger going about Life Unexpected. I think everyone, including the showrunner (who has another job already and brainstorming a new show) can confirm that the show is toast. I love Britt Robertson, but this witches show is so CW. I'm sick of what used to be 'scary' now being trendsetters with all the models/pretty people playing the roles. Liz Tigelaar - save us!!

I love Britt, and if Secret Circle does get picked up with her in it, I'll give it a chance for her. Supporting LUX actors is basically the only reason I would watch another show on the CW. But SERIOUSLY, I would much rather have more LUX. Are you kidding? I love the show and the cast so much! It might take a little creativity, but I believe they could make a Season 3 despite how they wrapped things up in the finale. While we got a happy ending, we didn't get to see all of the journey. I really want those gaps filled in! For me, LUX still has so much potential, and there is so much left to explore with these characters. Look...You can call me stubborn or nieve, but until there is an official announcement made by the network, I am still hoping and praying for more LUX, even if it takes a miracle. I'm letting the CW know I want a Season 3.

I want season 3 of Life Unexpected ! CW would be stupid to cancel the show. It just came out. Give it a break. You have to wait a maybe a few years to see if the ratings go up. Don't just cancel after 2 seasons ?! Thats messed up ! Im not watching the CW until Life Unexpected is back on.

The CW is making a huge mistake if they choose not to renew season 3 of lifeunexpected! I concur, let's wait a few seasons prior to examining ratings! I think LUX is an amazing show with a fantastic cast whose chemistry both on and off screen (via their twitter pics and updates)is simply undeniable. I think that given a chance, this show can become as sucessful as other long time running shows such as party of five and 7th heaven. This show has a huge online fan base the last time I checked and deserves to be renewed! I am so sick of tuning in to the CW to have to see the same worn out storylines of skanky cheerleaders or socialites. If we are not bombarded with that theme, then hello vampires and demons. The CW networks have got to realize that they cannot ride on the coatails of the sucess brought on by the themes of mean girls and the twilight saga. I would like for this network for once to grow a pair and pick up original quality family television such as LUX ):
