'American Idol' apologizes for Steven Tyler's awesomeness
Fake out!The Internet was a'buzzin' before tonight's episode of "American Idol" that FOX was going to issue an apology for new judge Steven Tyler's outrageous behavior. (Namely his use of foul language, hitting on female contestants, awesome facial expressions, etc.)
Early on Wednesday, Feb 2., Ryan Seacrest talked about the show's apology on his radio show. "If you've been watching the season, you know exactly what he's been doing," he said. When one of his co-hosts asked if Tyler was going to be fired, Seacrest replied, "Are you kidding?! He's a home run!" and hinted that the apology may be the show's attempt at a joke. Spoiler alert! -- it was.
The show started with a black card that read: "American Idol would like to apologize for last week's outrageous behavior by Steven Tyler. Mr. Tyler has been warned and assures us it will never happen again."
Naturally, the show cut to a clip of a young man coming in who said his last name was Muck, to which Tyler responded, "Do you know what rhymes with Muck?" Never change, Tyler. Never Change. Seriously, please don't.

Steven Tyler's behavior outrageous? Please. I'd call it corny. That rhymes-with-Muck comment would have been obvious to a twelve-year-old. Sadly, the bar for what passes for entertainment in America continues to be lowered.
Steven Tyler is my favorite American Idol Judge ever he is too funny, and I am so happy to hear it was a joke. ROCK ON STEVEN TYLER!!!!!!
Steven Tyler is a joke. This is supposed to be a family friendly show and they pick someone like him. Wow, we are done, don't watch, think he is stupid and his humor is non existent. He is a pervert. Not cool to hit on young girls. Grow up and act your age because you certainly look it.

Steven Tyler is great! I stopped watching a few years ago, but now I don't miss it. He is just what they needed to revitalize things.

I agree Steven makes the show this year! This has been my fav season, because its been more positive. Usually theres too much concentration on the bad singers ya feel kinda bad after watching. ps Jeremy if you dislike him so much why are you on this website? I dont get it?
I hate the way this overprotective society is trying to shield the world from true rockers personalities. This apology is saying that the executives on idol will bow to some people who can't stand the thought of a REAL musician judging talent and simultaneously being a rocker from the 70's. If I was in charge of the show I'd try and get Eddie Van Halen to judge too just for a laugh
I agree with everyone! He's somewhat funny, pretty corny. He hits on the girls? I guess he's flirty. So what. They're cute. No biggie. He acts appropriately for a mojor rock star. An occassional 'F' bomb. A skirt chaser. I just can't believe he votes in some of the people that sound so terrible. I guess they have to be leanient on the first round to have a whole seasons worth of material to vote out. That is what makes it a joke. I already have it narrowed to about 6 people so far. The rest suck.
I don't mind Steven being flirty with ADULT woment but when he did it with a 15 year old that was just gross and wrong.
