'American Idol': Chris Medina's consolation prize is a Jay Leno appearance

Jennifer Lopez nearly lost it on Wednesday's "American Idol" when the judges had to let Chris Medina go. Medina won the hearts of the judges and viewers alike when he explained that he's dedicated his life to being the primary caregiver of his fiancee, Juliana, who was severely injured a few months before their wedding was planned.Medina's final song was Coldplay's "Fix You," which had us all emotional given his circumstances.
We haven't seen the last of him, though. Medina has been invited to perform on Friday's Feb. 25 episode of "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno." He'll sing a song called "What Are Words" which was written by Rodney Jerkins specifically for Medina.
The track will be released online on Thursday. In the meantime, check out his last performance below.

I was so upset when he was eliminated. Not because of his story but he was such a beautiful singer and sung from such a deep place. I seriously can't believe he didn't make it. IN TOTAL SHOCK!!! The judges will hopefully rethink this because he is amazing.
I'm so happy that he was eliminated. Usind your girlfriend's tragedy and disability this way to gain fame is sick and inhuman. I'm honestly disgusted with him.
I cannot believe chris didnt make it to the top 24! I was so looking forward to watching him perform. He wasy favorite! Not sure if I'll even watch now. Bummer but he will probably still make it big....
Was eager to enjoy the Beatles segment of American Idol...what an aggravating segment...songs cut short, too much about personal trials of contestants....we are tuned in to hear the music and singing.....and got sad stories, and drama queens. Will wait now until the final contestents compete and SING !!!
I am so so disapointed chris did not make it you can just feel the emotions when he sing i see him making it far,he needs to be on american idol,american idol needs him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think they made a mistake cutting Chris. Jennifer was so upset I thought she was going to insist on there being a top 25 just to reverse their decision.
I think Chris was definitely better than some that they put through. I think the fact that he was a judge fav worked against him in this case. They may have felt pressure to go with someone else so they could appear more impartial. Anyway, glad to hear Chris is getting to appear on Leno! I hope he does a great job and lands himself a record deal without the hassle of AI.
BTW, I did not think the "Vocal Coach From Hell" was the least bit funny. The woman needs help...and another career. I don't think her approach helps anyone. So annoying >:(
Did any of you, who think Chris is using Juliana, consider that maybe Chris' journey on AI was something for Juliana to finally be happy about? Did you ever consider that his brief exposure on AI helped her in ENORMOUS ways (money for medical treatments etc).
You are narrow minded individuals who can't see things from a different perspective. He was a 25 year old guy who stayed by her side and is her care giver ... that alone says volumes about him as a person. I too am VERY disappointed he did not make the top 24 but I sure hope he goes on to do great things. I really love his voice – melodic.

Honestly its a good thing he was eliminated. I don't think he was using his girlfriend or anything, but I don't think he would have been suitable for the competition. It was good that he could showcase the story and everything, but I honestly wouldn't want to see him have to sing a song that wasn't him, that wasn't to the story. The songs he sang before all gave me chills, I wouldn't like that feeling to go away with some song that doesn't suit his nature. Even if he got put through, I don't think he'd end up winning. What he has gotten now is pretty good for him, he doesn't need to compete. I don't want him to be a performer, I want him to keep it close to his heart.

I feel for this guy, I'm not going to harp on about whether he used his girlfriend or not because I'm not sure. I'm just happy that Juliana is going to get the treatment she deserves. His new single "What Are Words" is the most touching thing I have heard in a long time.
