'Wonder Woman' eyes McG as director, ABC gets busy in development

The latest developments in development: It's your Wednesday injection of news about pilot season.NBC's "Wonder Woman" pilot is zeroing in on McG as its director. The prolific producer-director ("Charlie's Angels," "Human Target," "Chuck") is apprently the first choice to helm the David E. Kelley-written project, which NBC greenlit last week. [TVLine]
ABC has given the go-ahead to two comedies and two dramas set in the past. The comedies are "Work It," a "Bosom Buddies"-esque show about two guys who pose as women to land jobs, and "Lost and Found," about a woman who meets the son she gave up for adoption 18 years ago; it's written by acress Marisa Coughlan. The dramas are "Pan Am," about pilots and flight attendants working for the title airline in the 1960s, and "Poe," which casts author Edgar Allan Poe as a detective in 1840s Boston. [Variety]
"Rescue Me" co-creator Peter Tolan is going back to comedy with a FOX pilot called "The Council of Dads"; it's about a terminally ill father who enlists his best friends to help raise his kids. FOX has also greenlit "Family Album," which chronicles one family's summer vacation over the course of a season. [Deadline]
NBC has ordered a comedy based on Chelsea Handler's memoir "Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea"; Handler is one of the exec producers, while Julie Larson and Dottie Dartland Zicklin ("Dharma & Greg") will write it. [The Live Feed]
The Peacock has also greenlit "S.I.L.A." (which stands for Special Investigations Los Angeles) from "Traffic" and "Syriana" writer Stephen Gaghan. The drama will focus on cops, criminals and politicians in L.A. [Deadline]
In casting news, "Seinfeld" alum Wayne Knight has joined Donald Faison and David Alan Basche in a TV Land comedy about three guys whose divorce lawyer (Kristen Johnston) is also their landlord, while Tom Verica, Lolita Davidovich and Laura Bell Bundy have joined TBS' "Hound Dogs," which centers on a minor league baseball team.
