CBS took its usual spot at the top of the total-viewer rankings on Thursday, but the wintertime debut of "Wipeout" on ABC gave that network its best 8 o'clock numbers of the season -- by a huge margin -- and helped pave the way for a demographic win.

CBS and ABC were pretty much the only games in town ratings-wise Thursday night as the other broadcast nets are a couple weeks away from debuting their midseason schedules. The Eye led the night with 13.8 million viewers and an 8.3 rating/14 share among households. ABC (10.3 million, 6.1/10) was a solid second. There was a huge drop from there to third-place FOX (4 million, 2.6/4). NBC (3 million, 1.9/3) came in fourth, and The CW trailed with 1.4 million viewers and a 0.9/1.

"Wipeout's" strong debut (3.7 rating among adults 18-49) helped ABC lead the night in the demographic; it averaged 3.6 for the evening. CBS was close behind at 3.4. FOX and NBC tied for third at 1.2, while The CW delivered a 0.5.

I love CBS TV

I think Bones is going to lose viewers with the time change from 8pm to 9pm. The show is up against two well established power house shows Greys and CSI. I like Bones but feel the time change will hurt the show.

This show is awesome. I love it. But let's face it, if you are over 6" and 180 pounds, you're not gonna win. That's why these little girls win... they weigh less than a grain of salt and bounce off walls like rubber.

Let's see hatred like Sylvester spin ABCs great numbers at 8 pm and winning the demo for the night ... How cable worthy NBC has fallen, same with fox and it's stale Bones ! Sad networks ... Where us that guy who thinks he is funny Eric the Magnet , my number one fan , loser , lol

********** my dad says isn't that funny of a show

I use to really look forward to NBC's Thursday night line up. Not sure if it's because all of the reruns lately or if I really lost interest in these shows. Now I'm stuck watching crappy Jersey Shore with the wife since nothing better is on Thursdays.. which by the way pulled in 3.2 million viewers 10-11pm. Not too bad for cable.

Jersey Shore was great last night. Anyone know the ratings numbers?

Jersey Shore's early numbers are showing 8.5 million viewers. That's ahead of three of the major networks.

Is anyone else laughing at the fact that the once mighty Greys was just about beatin' in the ratings game by Wipeout of all shows?

No, Grey's wasn't just about beaten in the ratings by Wipeout, since it's on the same network an hour later.
