TV Ratings: Jets vs. Patriots scores, Golden Globes down from last year

jets-playoffs-320.jpgFast National ratings for Sunday, January 16, 2011.

Thanks to the Jets vs. Patriots NFL Playoff game - the highest-rated divisional playoff game since 1997 - CBS had an easy victory over NBC's Golden Globe Awards broadcast, which was down significantly from 2010's 16.9 million viewers to below 13 million viewers. The Golden Globes definitely aren't what they used to be - in 2004 26.8 million viewers watched.

The events - whether sport or glam - easily slaughtered Fox's comedy block, which was down significantly from last week - though they did still manage to beat ABC in the key demo.

The game helped boost CBS to an average of 20.3 million viewers with an 11.8 rating/18 share in households. NBC's Golden Globes coverage followed with 12.7 million and a 7.6/12. ABC was third with 7.7 million (4.8/7) and FOX trailed with 5.0 million (3.0/5).

Football also gave CBS a boost in the key 18.49 demo - they came in with a 5.8, followed by NBC (3.8), FOX (2.5), and ABC (2.1).

Tonight the Return of CHUCK can not wait for it.

Not a bit sorry i didn't watch one second of the Globes. There are too many freakin' award shows, and after awhile, they're all boring and too stretched out and milked !CMA's should be renamed, "The Brooks & Dunn, Alan Jackson, and George Strait" show

The Globes are down because it was an awful year for movies. When "Burlesque" and "The Tourist", two huge box office and critical disasters, get nominations, of course no one watches. It makes people realize how meaningless these awards are if there's no care put into choosing the nominees. Box office figures were down alot in 2010, so you can expect the awards show to do the same.

Not even the great Ricky Gervais can save this sinking ship.

And that Golden Globes, is why you don't snub LOST. Morons.

the golden globes are so overreated
