TV ratings: 'Idol,' NBC comedies hold the line Thursday; 'Bones' gets a boost
Fast National ratings for Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011Thursday's "American Idol" held pretty steady with its performance last week, losing only a handful of viewers and a tenth of a point in the 18-49 demographic. "Bones" scored its best numbers of the season, while NBC's comedy lineup dipped slightly but basically held onto the audience it drew last week.
FOX averaged 17.2 million viewers and a 9.9 rating/15 share in households, a slight improvement on last week's numbers thanks to the "Bones" bump. CBS (9.6 million, 6.0/10) was a distant second. ABC and NBC finished in a dead heat for third with 5.2 million viewers each (ABC scored a 3.2/5 in households to NBC's 3.0/5). The CW drew 3.05 million viewers and a 1.9/3 as it returned to original episodes.
FOX also dominated the adults 18-49 demo with a 5.8 rating, more than doubling the average of its closest competitor. That would be NBC, whose 2.5 rating was off a little from last week's 2.8. CBS, 2.1, came in third, followed by ABC at 1.6 and The CW at 1.3.

I can't believe how weak Community's ratings are. I love that show, it is so freaking hilarious, but sadly might only last 2 seasons.
Damn reality TV obsessed generation.
hoping that Parks can hold on to this audience so that it's given a third season.
A two hour block of Community/Office/P&R/30 Rock would be a good lineup for the Fall season.
who the HELL watches Outsourced?!! you dummies. lol
Community should be projecting the same rating as parks and recreation and 30 Rock if not higher, its amazing! And why has Vampire diaries dipped to the 3 millions, i remember back in season 1 when it was in the 5 millions and season 2 is a million times better! What is going on with the universe?!
i used to watch community, but it's lost a lot of steam. it's not as funny as the first season is.
now perfect couples, that's definitely funny, especially last night's episode. the girl that plays 'waitress' on always sunny has the best comedic timing. i have high hopes for that show.
@ aidan
i think it's because nobody's watch the cw. nikita is good, but nobody will watch. gossip girl is losing steam, but the storylines have potential. the network needs a complete executive overhaul.
Wow, I looked at NBC's numbers and thought they were in repeats as well as the other networks, but NOOOOOOOO. Idol is holding up nicely.
@J-MeoWW I the hell watch Outsourced! I love the show!
Great for Bones! Quite an accomplishment, mostly thanks to David Boreanaz.
I agree. Community definitely lost its steam. I loved the first season. Glad to see Parks back.
